I asked for health that I might achieve; God made me weak that I might obey. I asked for riches that I might be happy, God gave me poverty that I might be wise. I asked for strength to do greater things, God gave me infirmity that I might do better things. I asked for power that I might have the praise of men, God sent me weakness that I might feel the need of God. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life, God gave me life that I might enjoy all things. |
You say you love me. but sometimes you don't show it. In the beginning, you couldn't do enough for me. Now you seem to take me for granted. Some days I even wonder if I mean anything at all to you. Maybe when I'm gone, you'll appreciate me and all the things I do for you. I'm responsible for getting the food on your table, for your clean shirt, for the welfare of your loved ones...a thousand and one things you want and need. I've kept quite and waited to see how long it would take for you to realize how much you really need me. Cherish me, take care of me and I'll continue to take care of you. Who am I? I am your JOB. |
Mr. No came into a bakery to buy a loaf of bread. The baker asked, "Do you want to buy some bread?", and he said, "No". He also wanted to buy some butter. "Do you want some butter?" He said "No". "Sorry, then there is nothing I can sell to you", said the clerk in the store. And so Mr. No went back home empty-handed, carrying nothing he really want to get because he always did the opposite of what he wanted to do. He was hungry, so he threw the kettle of soup on the floor. He was thirsty, and his glass of water fell to the floor. He wanted to sleep, so he threw a bucket of water onto his bed. One day, there was a knock at the door. A voice asked, "Is Mr. No at home?" and he replied "No." But she knew he was, and so she opened the door. She just unpacked the bread and butter and sausage and covered the table. Then Mr. No sat down next to her and they both had a good lunch together. When almost all of the food was gone, the girl asked, "should I come again?" and he said, "YES" and meant it.
