| People's Coalition Against The War (PCAW) Los Angeles, California August 16, 2002 On the US-GRP Crackdown of the Popular Anti-Imperialist Movement in the Philippines, and its "Total War" Against Peace The Los Angeles based People�s Coalition Against War (PCAW) was formed following the tragic events on September 11th to launch an anti-war campaign, as well as to complement the anti-war efforts of different coalitions and groups in the United States. PCAW stands united in solidarity with the Filipino people, the popular democratic forces, and all individuals and groups now being unjustly persecuted by the Bush administration in their ongoing "War Against Terror." The United States and Philippine authorities are systematically reimposing US military presence in Asia-Pacific after its defeat in the Vietnam War through an ongoing crackdown against progressive forces and individuals. This campaign will transform the Philippines into a " big military base" and a launching pad for further imperialist aggression upon other parts of the world like Iraq, Iran, North Korea and China. The bloody record of the US speaks for itself. It has supported brutal and cruel military dictatorships all over the world. It intervened, invaded and imposed trade and economic blockades in Cuba, Iraq, Iran, North Korea and Yugoslavia. In short, it has acted as the global imperial police force. US imperialism is the number one terrorist in the world. PCAW expresses its deepest concern on the state of the peace negotiations between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP). The GRP in Norway has been in limbo because of the Macapagal-Arroyo government's stubbornness and deliberate scuttling of the failed peace talks. We are greatly dismayed that in other parts of the world like Palestine, Ireland and Angola, the agenda of all political talks is peace, while in the Philippines, the reimposition of a fascist state is prevalent and the mood of war is upbeat. PCAW reiterates its appeal to all freedom loving Americans to prevent political persecution and witch-hunts from happening once again against progressive Filipinos Americans, and other nationalities who dare raise their voice against injustice and oppression. We reiterate our call to all progressive organizations and individuals to unite and act now to stop the war and end the US war of terror against the oppressed peoples and nations of the world! There should be no turning back. Let us not fear and be paralyzed into inaction. Let us all defend our democratic rights and civil liberties with more militant mass actions!
