PEOPLE'S COALITION AGAINST WAR (PCAW)
Statement on the Renewal of Live Target Practice by the US Navy in Vieques, Puerto Rico
Issued April 4, 2002

The Peoples Coalition Against War (PCAW) stands in militant solidarity with the heroic defenders of the land in Vieques and the people of Puerto Rico.

We demand that the US government an its navy and armed forces stop all military activity in the Puerto Rican nation, and in particular, on the island of Vieques.

Vieques is an island inhabited by Puerto Ricans for centuries and generations. We demand that the US government:

1) Cease all military activity there (in particular the bombings)!
2) Clear the land of all military ordinance!
3) Give the land back to their rightful owners!
4) Find and offer to all those that have left, due to the terror of the military exercises, a return to their rightful homes!
5) Pay reparations for damage to the land and its people!
6) Free all political prisoners!

Our just stand is based on the universally recognized principle of an oppressed nation and people having the right to self-determination. Puerto Rico is recognized the wide world over as a colony of the US and is one of the last remaining colonies in the world.

We demand the right of self-determination of the Puerto Rican nation without the interference of the US government or the multi-national corporations that it serves.

We call on all peace and justice loving American people to demand the government to GET OUT OF PUERTO RICO NOW!!

VIVA PUERTO RICO LIBRE!
ALL POWER TO THE PUERTO RICAN PEOPLE!
