ForgetMeNot 1.1
ForgetMeNot is an application that allows you to see exactly how many days remain until a specified event. You enter the events description and date, and ForgetMeNot will keep you posted as to how long you have left to prepare for the event. The event can be just about anything: birthdays, anniversaries, planned vacations, holidays, graduation, retirement, church functions, etc. If you have a problem with forgetting family birthdays or other important events, ForgetMeNot will do the remembering for you.
ForgetMeNot 1.1 began its life as Countdown 1.0. Before I released Countdown, I failed to search the Palm software sites to see if there were any other programs with similar names. Unfortunately, there are at least two other programs with the name Countdown. To limit any further confusion that may have arisen because of the duplication of the name, I chose to rename mine to ForgetMeNot (I checked PalmGear first there were no other ForgetMeNot programs!).
For those of you who downloaded and started using Countdown 1.0, you dont need to worry about losing your events. The first time you run ForgetMeNot, it will look to see if the old databases are present on your system, and if they are, all of your events and categories will be imported into ForgetMeNot. At that point, you can safely delete Countdown from your device. Please be aware, though, that this check and import process will only occur once. If you add more events to Countdown, they will not be imported into ForgetMeNot.
Using ForgetMeNot is very easy.
Note: An event is made current by tapping it.
Note: At present, only ascending sorts are supported.
Something to identify the event. If the event is a birthday, this could be the persons name or nickname. Currently limited to 25 characters.
This means that the event occurs every year. When this is checked, ForgetMeNot will automatically adjust the number of days until the event after the event is more than 7 days old. For example, if the event occurred 7 days ago, Days Until will show 7, but on the eighth day, ForgetMeNot will look to the next year for the event and show 357 days remaining. If Annual Event is not checked, the Days Until the event will continue to be negative.
Check this option if you want the age of the event calculated. This option is only available if the event is annual.
Select the date of the event. Because the standard Palm date selection method is used, dates cannot be earlier than 1904.
The category you would like to file the event in.
Enter here notes that you want to keep about the event. If the event is replacing furnace filters in your home, you may want to jot down what size of filters you need. If the event is a birthday, you may want to make a note about what the birthday person likes or dislikes. This is currently limited to 512 characters.
Theres not much to say here, as Categories follow the same standard that built-in Palm applications do. Category names are limited to 15 characters and you can have up to 16 categories. The only item really worth mentioning is that when you delete a category that currently has event assigned to it, the events are automatically re-filed in the Unfiled category.
Im already planning:
If you have suggestions about what would be good additions to ForgetMeNot, please send me an email or greeting card and let me know!
ForgetMeNot is PrayerWare. Im a Christian, and prayer is a very important part of my relationship with Jesus. Prayer is how I share my burdens, hopes, fears, and cares with Him. Prayer is how He shares with me the desires that He has for my life. For any person calling him/herself a Christian, prayer is vitally important.
PrayerWare then is very simple. There is no fixed price for this software. You may use it as long as you want to. You can even give it to as many people as you want to (provided the original archive is intact). All I ask is that you sincerely seek the Lords guidance about what this software should cost you. Whatever God speaks to your heart, be diligent to obey Him. If He would have you send me some money (whatever the amount), obey Him. If He doesnt want you to do anything, thats fine too. If He asks you to donate some old clothes to the Salvation Army or Red Cross, obey Him. Very simply, no matter what the Holy Spirit leads you to do, please be faithful in honoring Him.
If you are not a Christian, please dont be offended. Im not trying to force anyone to do anything or to believe anything they are not ready or willing to believe. As far as this software is concerned, I leave it up to you to decide what to do. Use your own judgment and ethical foundation. Do what seems right to you.
