Being an inner city house, the courtyard is not large. We enjoy spending time there. It is great when we have parties. It is very private, full of plants and small trees and of course the birds. All of these photo have been taken by Tony. |

In 2004 I decided to buy a pair of Gouldian finches. They are native to the Top End of Autralia and I was a little concerned about having them outside in Melbourne as the weather does get quite cold here in the winter. Also many people had told me that they are not the easiest of bird to keep and breed. The pair I bought did look a little lonely so of course I bought a second pair. You can not believe how happy I was on ANZAC weekend 2005 when I looked into the aviary and saw not 4, but 10 Gouldian finches. |

Here are 3 of the 6 Gouldian finches at 5 weeks of age. Still in their baby feathers. |
