
Like Naom Chomsky said: Just like any other corporation, the media are here primarily to sell a product to a market. The market is advertisers, which are other corporations. The product is audiences. In order to be fairly important, the media also have to sell a specific product, which is a relatively privileged audience.
For example, everyone in the world is told that consumerism brings welfare for all, the more you buy, the more good there is! Guess again, look at the picture on your left. There are thousands such sweatshops in "third world" countries, and obviously puppet, corrupt governments are kept in such countries so that business is not hurt.
If independent study is done by going to the true source of any problem, then maybe 5% of the crises can be understood, nevertheless, the effort is appreciable.
