Clinical trials using Acomlia over the period of a year, a third of patients lost 10% of their initial body weight. The first country Acomplea was sold in was the United Kingdom. This trial used 787 smokers in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study method, conducted at 11 sites throughout the US. The EU did not give Akomplia a blanket approval, it was not approved to aid in the cessation of smoking. Some studies indicated that the use of Akomplia may cause sever depression.
