Chevy Nova page Two
Here's a couple of views of our tired looking baby. Eventually the exterior will be redone, but fancy paint is not on the agenda as we would like to be able to park the car without worrying about finding 'metallic pinstripes' along the sides when we return.
The interior is making progress, and just needs door panels, some more dash trim and a little tidying in the wiring department.
Rear seats were covered for the grand sum of $10, but we had to supply the materials. The quality doesn't look so sharp close up, but it'll do for now.
Foolishly I popped a hole in the original radiator, with a little hamfisted clumsiness. I then realised it was rotted to the core, and just powderd and crumbled when a repair was attempted.
For $100 a local guy radiator soldered my end tanks onto a triple row core he had lying around. The result: Super Radiator.
The front bumper was removed while fitting it and left a pretty sorry sight. Some rust converter and black hammer finish paint tidied it up somewhat.
The original speedo movement was used in the new dash, without the scratched and butchered plastic framework, and thus needed a glass front to protect it. To machine a recess, for the Lexan sheet that was to go into the new dash, a home made router was concocted from our drill press, using a ground down drill as the cutter, and a cap screw as a guide.
In place with temporary brackets, and embarrasing coat of paint.
Prior to fitting, mucho rust was removed from the front section.

At this very moment a new engine is being prepared. It is a 350, with four bolt mains with:
Overbored 0.030"
TRW 11:1 Forged Pistons
64cc Fuelie heads
2.020" Stainless intake valves
1.60" Stainless exhaust valves
Comp Cam 280G grind cam
Crane 1.5:1 Roller rockers
Hedman headers
Holley 750cfm Vacuum secondaries
GM HEI ignition distributor.
The interior is pretty much finished now, with just a few odds and ends to get it up to scratch. it was never intended to be a showstopper, and seeing as everything was done by us, apart from stitching the rear seat, it came out pretty good, or so we reckon

We left the Philippines, to live in England, in April 2002, so the Nova never did get finished. It's been sold, and we hope it got a loving owner to finish the work we started. It was a great car, despite it's age and appearance.
