| A daughter of Alexander Parker, the Pittsburgh man who originally owned the land on which Parkersburg stands, gave the property for the second courthouse which was located at Juliana St. and First St.. It was a rambling log building made of hewn timbers from Fort Boreman. It was erected before the incorporation of the town, and was used for various community purposes. The Episcopal Church of the town met there as did the school. After a new courthouse was built this one was occupied as a residence until 1884 when the families were driven out by flood. When the waters receded it was boarded up for a time. It later housed the Rex Hardware Co. and stood until 1908, being then over 100 years old.
