This is a very simple and easy model to build. I used candles to work on, but I guess any soft material will do.

You do not need to program the RCX for this model, just start the motor and work or, if you like, you can attach touch sensor to start and stop the motor, it is easier then using the RCX buttons.

You can use any sharp edge tool (screw driver or kitchen knife) or even some LEGO parts for carving. You can use the mechanism (like in the model shown hear) to mount the carving tool or work free handed.

Tip: put some newspaper sheet under the lathe while you work to collect the candle chips.
