Handling Money in the country:

Credit cards are increasingly accepted in the cities and at tourist areas, but it is safest to rely (in spite of the inconvenience) on Travelers' Checks.  It is convenient to carry a small amount of American money in small denominations (e.g. 100 or 200 1 dollar bills and 10 or 20 5 dollar bills), BUT BE SURE TO KEEP ANY CASH ALWAYS ON YOUR PERSON IN A MONEY BELT, FANNY PACK, ETC. AND NEVER LEAVE CASH UNATTENDED IN YOUR HOTEL OR LODGE ROOM OR IN YOUR LUGGAGE.

Clothing:

During July and August in the highlands (not the mountain peaks) of Kenya and Tanzania, the weather TEMPERATURES  are similar to the temperatures in Atlanta in late April and early May (or like the temperatures in Southern New England in late May and early June), so bring and wear Spring weight clothing.  However, it is prudent to bring a windbreaker and a fleece shirt for the occasonal colder locations and to bring shorts,  swimming suits, etc. for the warmer situations.

Tipping

Be prepared to tip oftern, but ask local persons as to what are  appropriate amounts to tip in various situations, BUT GET MORE THAN ONE OPINION, AS OPINIONS VARY.  Then use your best judgement.

Have a good trip.
