16-JAN-2009 Well...2008 has gone in the books and a brand new year is upon us. A ray of hope in such dismal times as we prepare for the dawn of two new eras: the Obama Administration and Ms. Carolyn's Terrible Twos!!! Check that...she's been ramping the latter era up since last summer. Not too bad right now, but, with a 3-year old intellect trapped in a 2-year old's body, signs are there it's going to be a rather awesome war of wills to come. Not that that is all bad...we are, after all, happy that we can literally carry on conversations with the child at this early stage. Her vocabulary is off the charts, we can't seem to find an object around she doesn't know the name of (some of them in Spanish, too). She's gone way beyond simple words, but well into the concepts and descriptors behind them (i.e: the moon that is a circle is a "white full moon" to her...and you say "who's your pet" and she'll say "beanie, my kitty-cat", etc.). Sentences are now short paragraphs, and she's memorized the words to more songs than her father has (in my defense, I am not good with lyrics). A happy, healthy 2-year old...my where does the time go?! As for the parental units, we are getting along fine. At least we still have jobs, and we haven't taken too much of a hit yet (though DHEC has given all of its employees a nice 5-day mandatory unpaid vacation so far this fiscal year). Here's hoping that all of us, nationwide, will be seeing a corner turned but soon on the wrecked economy (go Progressive power!) The Picasa site has been updated with some newer pictures take since the last website update in July. If you would like additional pix (of which there are hundreds more), just drop us a line.
