Act 2 of Amnesia
Scene 1: Hospital reception desk (nurse sitting down, boys enter stage right)
Kaoru: We�re looking for Roxanne.
Nurse: Roxanne who? Are you sure you�re in the right place? (looking them over questioningly) This is a hospital.
Kaoru: Uh�(unsure of what to say to such a stupid remark, looks at bandmates for answer, but gets shrugs and eyerolling) Well, they said she didn�t give a last name on the book tags? All we know is that her name is Roxanne and she fell off a balcony at a rock concert.
Nurse: Are you family?
(boys all laugh)
Nurse: Oh my! Do you know who you look like? My niece absolutely adores this one rock band ummm�Die in pain?
Die: Dir en grey? We get that a lot.
Kyo: I�m cousin to the half-brother of the girlfriend of the bassist. People say me and him look alike. I thinks it�s just the relation.
Nurse: Sure. (not paying attention, looks over chart in hand.) If you�re looking for a Roxanne without a last name, we have one on the fifth floor, Rm. 304. She just came in today.
Kaoru: Thank you.
Scene 2: boys looking into window of hospital door
Toshiya: Do you think she can see us looking at her?
Shinya: Should we go in? We might disturb her.
Die: Don�t be such a fruit, Shinya. She�d probably gnaw off her arm to meet us.
Kyo: Eww! I bet she looks like something gnawed on her after that fall!
Die: What the heck are you talking about?
Kaoru: It was a long fall.
Shinya: 2.54 stories approximately.
Die: Only you would know that.
Toshiya: (looks at Kaoru) Can we go in and talk to her? She�s awake. She�s American. I can tell. I wonder if she came all the way from America just to see us. (clutches hands together happily) I didn�t know we had American fans that dedicated.
Shinya: She looks awfully familiar, but I can�t grasp it.
Die: Looks pretty cute, too. I wonder if she has a boyfriend.
Kaoru: (motion of opening door) Shush. Let�s go see how she is doing. Lindsay is still waiting in the van for us, remember?
(boys walk over to bedside of Roxanne, who is reading a novel intently, glasses not looking up from book)
Shinya: The Miracle Strain! That�s a wonderful book!
Roxanne: I found it next to the bed. Real interesting. (as she looks up) um, do I know you?
Die: Ha! Do you know us? (asks others) Does she know us?
Kaoru: Well, you were at our concert, right?
Roxanne: (speaking slowly and confusedly) uhn�I can�t remember. Sorry.
Kyo: It was a long fall, sure enough to knock some stuff out of your brain. By the way, are they intact? Your brains, I mean?
Roxanne: What?
Kaoru: Ignore him. We came from the concert to see how you were doing after that fall.
Toshiya: (excitedly) Did you come all the way from America to see us?
Roxanne: I�um, can�t remember. (starts looking distressed)
Shinya: That�s ok. That tends to happen after a fall. You lose some short term memory. But you still have most of the long term. Can you tell us your name? The nurse didn�t have your last name.
Roxanne: Oh yea, that�s easy. It�s�I can�t remember! I can�t remember anything! Who are you? What am I doing here? Where am I from? Who do I know? Who am I?
Die: Take it easy, kid.
Kaoru: Have you talked to any doctors about this?
Roxanne: I just woke up. You�re the first people I�ve seen. I think. I�m not sure.
Die: What, do you have amnesia or something?
Shinya: Die, are you really that much of an idiot?
Nurse #2: (sticks head in the door and everyone turns) Oh, sorry. Just checking on Roxanne. I see that you�re awake now. How do you feel?
Roxanne: A little confused. Where am I?
Toshiya: Japan. You don�t remember?
Roxanne: Obviously not if I don�t even know my own name. What am I doing in Japan?
Die: Attending a rock concert?
Kaoru: On vacation?
Toshiya: Visiting relatives?
Kyo: Toshiya, does she look Japanese to you?
Toshiya: Shut up, Kyo. It was just a suggestion.
Kaoru: Listen, do you have anywhere to stay?
Roxanne: I don�t know.
Kaoru: Isn�t there anything in your purse? Any ID?
Die: We already looked. There were pencils, some poptarts, a book, and some bookmarks.
Shinya: Are there any cars left in the parking lot?
Kaoru: Good idea, Shinya! Maybe she drove to the concert!
Nurse: Miss, if you are feeling well you can feel free to pick up and leave at any time and we�ll be in touch with your insurance company.
Roxanne: But I have nowhere to stay. I don�t even know if I have an insurance company.
Nurse: Don�t worry; cases like these are generally short term. You�ll regain your memory in no time.
Die: You can come and stay with us until then. Once we find your car you can be on your way.
Scene 3: In parking lot
Die: So, what does your car look like?
Shinya: Die, how would she know?! She has amnesia!
Die: Oh yeah, I forgot.
Kaoru: I don�t know for sure, but it doesn�t really look like you have a car out here. You must have gotten here some other way.
Toshiya: (hands clasped) Like flying from America?
Kyo: Yes, Toshiya, she flew right to our concert.
Kaoru: Oh well, we�ll take you back to our place, anyway. We�ll try to help you out.
Roxanne: Thanks. I really wish I could remember something about you guys. You seem pretty cool.
Kyo: Yeah, it�s ok. If you did remember, you�d probably be obsessed with us, anyway.
Die: Shut up, Kyo. She�d only be obsessed with me!
Kyo: Nuh uh! I draw way more obsessive fans than you do!
Die: That�s a lie!
Kyo: What about the fans that donate blood to me? Even when I don�t need any...
Kaoru: Guys, stop this. You both have equally obsessive fans, ok. Besides, neither of your fans can possibly be as obsessive as mine if you�ve never received a humidifier from one of them. How much more loyal can you get?
Shinya: I got a vacuum cleaner.
Die: Shinya, we weren�t talking to you.
Kyo: Nobody cares about your vacuum cleaner. Why don�t you stop talking about it? That�s all you ever talk about, that vacuum cleaner. What does it clean that�s so great, huh? Dead bodies? I think not. If you can�t vacuum up a rotting corpse with it, it�s no good to me. I�m unimpressed.
Roxanne: Um, you guys, could we maybe�not stand around in the parking lot arguing about who has the best fans? I mean, this is fun and all, but�
Kaoru: You�re right. We should head back.
Toshiya: Look, there�s Lindsay waiting in the van for us!
Lindsay: Hey there laddies, lets get back home. Are you bringing the lass with you, then?
Die: Yeah, she�s got�. what was it again?
Shinya: Amnesia, Die. Amnesia.
Die: Right, that.
Toshiya: So, lets head home, then.
