| What is Rolling Rescue? Providing shelter, foster care and medical attention to PBGVs in need and then matching them with the appropriate adoptive homes is only part of the job of doing breed rescue. As with most rescue groups, PBGV Lifeline operates on a very limited budget, and it is not possible for us to absorb transportation costs associated with getting rescued dogs to their new adoptive homes. In an effort to minimize costs to our adopters, we will attempt to arrange ground transport (rolling rescue) whenever possible from foster care to the dog's new permanent home, although it is not guaranteed that this can be accomplished in every case. The ability to arrange a "rolling rescue" delivery is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the distance needing to be covered between the foster home and the dog's final destination, as well as, the time and availability of our volunteers to facilitate these transfers and whether or not overnight stays will be needed along the transport route. How Can I Help? Maintaining an effective rolling rescue service is totally dependent upon the good hearts and selfless dedication of our volunteers. Dependable drivers and overnight caregivers are always needed. If you'd like to volunteer as a driver or as an overnight caregiver, email us with the following information, and please insert "Rolling Rescue" in the subject line of your email. 1. Name 2. Complete address 3. Phone number 4. Email address 5. Number of miles you can travel one way 6. Availability (weekends only, week days only, any time, etc.) 7. Amount of advance notice needed to enable you to participate 8. Whether or not you can provide overnight care to a dog in transport Donations Prepaid gas cards are always welcome to help defray the personal expenses of our volunteers. Please consider donating a prepaid gas card or making a donation to the PBGV Lifeline transportation fund. |
