It seems that in the last 2 years, since the 97 cocker, WGP has actually
started shaping up their 'cockers. The 98 was a really big improvement. I
came across a 99 cocker recently. This review will tell how much the cocker
has improved. I've broken this gun into several catagories, since its a
cocker, it will be trigger, internals, pneumatics, and other. Ratings go 1
to 5, 1 being bad, 5 being the best.
Trigger
Well, the trigger has gotten better since the past cockers. It's still
pretty darn stiff though. Their is not much to say here, just that, trigger
work is greatly appreciated. WGP has finally incorporated a threaded timing
rod, a VERY important upgrade. This threaded rod hold timing better, and
makes it much easier to make precise timing adjustments.

Internals (valve, hammer, bolt, etc.)
The stock bolt is the same as the past, basically it sucks. The valve is
reliable, but not for low pressure. A valve that could go lower pressure
reliably would be a great upgrade for the cocker. The hammer kit that is now
in cockers, is actually a really great improvement, first implemented in the
98 cocker. Before the 98 cockers, many players had to buy a nelson based
spring kit for lower pressure operation, and for general performance
upgrades. The 98 hammer kits, or so they are called, work really well, all
that is need are low pressure springs (5-8 bucks maybe?). I really like the
98 hammer kits, I like them much better than nelson style kits, mainly
because, if you own a cocker with a pre 98 hammer you will understand, when
you want to take off the beavertail, its a pain to put it back on, since the
beavertail screw also holds in a spring loaded hammer. The 98 hammers is a
disc that thread into the gun, a nice concept.

Pneumatics
The pneumatics are probably where the most improvements have been since the
past few years. The reg, the "sledgehammer", which has been implemented on
newer cockers (96-99 I think?), a great improvement over the old regs, but it
still sucks. The 3 way is the most reliable 3 way out. I love stock and STO
3 ways. In the past few years, WGP has been polishing their 3 ways, allowing
a smother trigger pull. The ram, which is now smaller and more compact in
the 99 cockers, work nice and reliably. Not much to criticize in a ram, as
long as it doesnt leak its good.
Pneumatics: 2
Other (reg, grip, barrel)
The reg is a good reg for co2. Players don't like it because to adjust the
pressure, you have to take the reg off and adjust it internally. It really
is a good reg though, it has some potential. The standard AGD grip frame,
now made out of composite plastic, is fragile, but, it does its job. The
barrel just plain sucks.

Overall impressions:
This gun is a good gun. It is a good gun, mainly because of the potential.
There are a couple of things that would give this gun a higher rating, WGP
still isn't done with the cocker. Well, here's my overall rating:
Overall rating: 2
That may not seem like a lot, but look at this:
Overall rating with a couple of upgrades: rock reg, new bolt, new valve,
adjustable reg:
Overall rating with above upgrades: 5
