Matt was waiting impatiently at the valley pacing up and down. Suddenly James came rushing out from his street straight towards him
�Any sign of her?� he panted �No� said Matt, panicking �now come on; I heard a scream coming from the woods� James looked at him sympathetically; he knew how much Matt cared about his sister and if anything happened to her, he�d do all he could to get his own back. Matt ran ahead in the direction of the woods, James followed getting prepared for the worst. Back at the woods Emma thought it was best to keep the boy talking, just in case he slipped into unconscious. �Don�t worry� said Emma �I�m not here to hurt you� The boy glanced at her and laughed slightly, while yelling in pain at the same time �I know you won�t hurt me, you look to�.innocent and kind� Emma laughed, he didn�t seem rough at all; his accent was very posh and at least he was talking. �Eeerrr�..so what�s you name?� asked Emma, trying to keep the conversation flowing. The boy was struggling to talk from the pain, he grabbed hold of his leg which was pouring out blood, although it was cold his forehead was sweating constantly, a pure sign he wasn�t well �C..Ch..Charlie� he stammered. �Ok Charlie� said Emma �I�m gonna try and lift you up, we need to get you out of here sometime� Charlie nodded but closed his eyes tightly as Emma grabbed both his arms and struggled to pull him up; the pain was unbearable for him Emma thought as he yelled out loud. Eventually Emma managed to get him on his feet, although he wasn�t very stable. She held him around the waist so that he could support himself. �You ok now?� she asked �or will you need to go to the hospital?� Blood trickled down his nose, he wiped it away �No I�ll be fine, I�ll get washed up back home� he replied, looking into her eyes. �What will your parents say� asked Emma, concerned for him �They won�t know; I live on my own� he said. Emma looked at him strangely �You ran away?� �Noo nothing like that� he replied, smiling slightly at Emma�s innocence �I�m in a band, nothing major, so I can afford a place of my own, that�s why I got beaten up, those thugs robbed my place taking everything, my guitar, drum set, CD player�� he trailed off Emma gave him a sorry look and at least she knew she was right and Matt was wrong, there were some decent people around here. Suddenly Charlie lost his balance from being laid down on the floor for too long, he fell forwards pushing Emma down with him. He lay on top of her his hands pressed on the ground above her shoulders. Emma looked up at him, slightly worried that he was losing his balance �You sure you�re ok?� she asked �Fine� he replied, looking at her deeply �MATT OVER HERE!!!!� yelled James coming out from some bushes. Emma and Charlie turned their heads to face Matt and James. Matt came out from behind James, his face turned to anger at the sight of someone rough looking pinning down his terrified sister. |
