I jumped off the kitchen work board, shaking with fear.
What have you done to him? I asked, tears forming in my eyes. I dreaded the answer. Matt didnt listen to me; instead he took off his shirt and chucked it into the washing machine before going upstairs to dry off, a blank look on his face. I looked at James; then broke into tears. He honestly didnt do anything to me, whats Matt done? I cried James looked at me sympathetically, Hes only trying to protect you; he cares about you Yer. I cried well maybe he cares too much I stormed off upstairs and into Matts bedroom, leaving James to clear up the muddy puddle Matt had brought in from the rain. I slammed the door shut, causing Matt to turn around in shock Dont slam the door he said calmly Im not leaving until you tell me what you did to him I said angrily, trying to act tough although it didnt really show in my voice. I gave him what he deserved replied Matt now you can go I felt the sharp sting of tears forming in my eyes again he didnt deserve anything I choked, before leaving his room and running into mine. That night I couldnt sleep, I kept tossing and turning, and when I did nod off Charlies face appeared in my mind. He looked scared, hurt and alone. He was in pain and he needed help fast. It was a silent night and I was frightened to sleep just in case I heard the painful screams of Charlie in need of help, I cried myself to sleep to drown out the thoughts that kept me awake. |
