First of all, I'll let you know who i am. My name's Rachel, I was a young woman of 18, happy with my boyfriend Charlie until one fateful night. Little did i know, things would be changed forever....
"Rachel? You ready yet?" Charlie called up the stairs. "Yeah hang on!" I yelled back, pinning the last piece of hair into my rough bun and straightening out the creases in my long, tailoured, red, strapless dress and walking out of our room and down the stairs. "Wow, you look wonderful." He smiled taking my hand as I made my way down the last step. We got into his black Mini Cooper, and headed to The Green Barge, the poshest Chinese restaurant for miles. "So remind me why we're going here again?" I said grinning, knowing the answer before it came. "To celebrate our engagement." He smiled back at me, taking my hand and glancing at me and the beautiful ring. We pulled round the bend and into the car park. It's a shame neither of us spotted the 4X4 before we were slammed into the side of the parked vehicle with such force that I had and would never experience again... "She's gone." Those words echoed round my head, in and out of hearing until i finally felt a sensation that was strangely like hearing a piece of paper being ripped, but right in the depths of my soul. I felt myself drifting, as if i was a mirage. Further and further away, until suddenly, i felt radiantly alive again. Like being reborn. "Hi honey." A familiar voice drifted into my head, I turned my head as if in slow motion to see Charlie. "Hi baby." My words echoed round the never-ending white universe around me. "You coming?" He said offering his right hand. I took it in my left, and noticed my engagement ring. "Happy engagement." A sudden chorus of voices ricocheted around me. "Thank you!" I called into the plain colour less space, and floated off with my beloved. Never to return, never to be unhappy, never to shed a single tear again. |
