The Madness of Twilight
©2002 Gregg Jacobus
There is a void betwixt shadow and light
Slender though it may be
It binds them together and holds them tight
But still we may not see
For this is the realm of true illusion
The twilight home of dreams
Even if you break free of confusion
Nothing is what it seems
Pinpricks of light dance quick upon cities
Of shifting, formless things
Tortured souls scream their throats raw for pity
From tattered, leathered wings
With a clench of his fist he stops their pain
And ends the agony
Caused by the dark child, long gone insane
Demented progeny
Hot twisted flesh and the madness within
Are all he's ever known
And as he awaits the night to begin
Tends the seeds he has sown
