William is who donated the land that the Washoe cemetery resides on. Click here for additional information on the Tharp family history. THARP, JOHN P..-I have absolutely no evidence that John Tharp, husband to Fannie, is actually buried at the Washoe cemetery. However, in transcribing a probate record for Henry Cole, another pioneer buried at Washoe, I found a date of death mentioned for John Tharp. It would only make sense that he was buried next to his wife and sons. He was still living in the Washoe area and an executor of an estate concerning more Washoe property. He left 4 minor children that were placed into the guardianship of their older sister, Martha Tharp Clark. I can not find any record of John being buried anywhere else in the area. The Guardianship document can be read here- http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.payette&m=1320 UPCHURCH GIRL--This is the daughter of William H and Margaret Adelia Upchurch. They originally settled all the land surrounding and including the Washoe cemetery in the 1880's. After their daughter died and was buried there, they donated the land for public use to avoid anyone trying to take the land the cemetery was located on. The land was officially deeded on Nov. 7, 1935. The couple then moved to Boise where William died March 19, 1936 and Adelia died March 3, 1942. Click here to read more on the Upchurch family.
