PRQG Logo Pax River Quilters' Guild

WELCOME!

Pax River Quilters' Guild (PRQG) was formed in 1992 to promote cooperation and the exchange of ideas among quilters, and to further the education and skills of our members. General meetings are held in the Loffler Center at Chancellor's Run Regional Park the 2nd Monday of each month starting at 7:00 p.m. Our membership is open to anyone who is interested in quilting. Many opportunities are available for members and we hope that as a member you will participate in a variety of them.

AS A MEMBER YOU CAN EXPECT THE FOLLOWING:

Newsletters-As a member of the Guild you will receive Piece-n-Harmony, a monthly newsletter with hints, the block of the month pattern, committee input, and general information. All current issues of Piece-n-Harmony will be available to view online at the end of February.

Show & Tell-Bring a quilt, a project or quilt story to share with us. We guarantee that you will receive the appreciation you deserve. And viewing other member's handiwork may inspire you to experiment with countless ideas and color combinations. If you miss a guild meeting don't despair we will be adding show & tell pictures to this site soon.

Block of the Month-There is a block pattern in each "Piece-n-Harmony" newsletter. You may choose to make one or many of the same pattern, because each finished block gives you the opportunity to sharpen your skills and entitles you to put your name in the Block of the Month drawing. The lucky winner takes home all the blocks. If there are more than 20 blocks entered, the blocks are split between two or more winners. Please see the Block of the Month Chairman for more information.

Monthly Drawings-Door Prizes and Monthly Minis are awarded at each general guild meeting. Many times the donations for door prizes have been so generous that there has been more than one drawing a night. The Monthly Mini, which is a small quilted item donated by a member, has always been a crowd pleaser. See the Membership or Monthly Mini Chairman for more information on our monthly drawings.

Secret Pals-This is a group of people who exchange gifts with each other-only secretly! The person receiving the gift does not know who is giving the gifts to them until we reveal "Pals" at the December meeting. New "Pals" are exchanged each January and again in June for new participants. See the Secret Pals Chairman for more information and remember, every member is welcome to join Secret Pals.

Library-We have a nice collection of books, patterns, stencils, and videos that members can check out for a month at a time. A list of available materials is provided to you when you join the Guild or you may view the listing online. By the way, the library gladly accepts donations.

Name Tags-Wearing a PRQG name tag enables you to become quickly acquainted with other members. Each new member receives a 2" x 40" strip of fabric to bind a Guild name tag. A different binding fabric is chosen each year. Any materials, size, shape, and crafting styles are acceptable. Look around at a meeting and you will see a great variety. Any member who forgets to wear their name tag to a meeting pays a friendly 25¢ fee at the door.

PRQG Logo Merchandise-Guild pins are available for from the Treasurer. Many members have collections of pins from a variety of guilds and quilt shows. Start your collection today or add to the one you have already by seeing the Treasurer for more information.

Membership Directory-The directory is published yearly. Each member's name is preceded by a membership number. Founding members' numbers end with "F." Phone number, address, and birthday are also listed. Information for members who join after publication are printed in Piece-n-Harmony. Be sure to note the changes on your master copy.

Other Activities-Our Executive Board and committees plan activities throughout the year that may be of interest to you. Your participation is always welcome and encouraged. By joining a committee you will help keep the Guild strong. To learn more about the different activites talk with an Executive Board Chairman or take a look at the Offices page to get an idea for yourself.
