"Well aside from the fact we're soooooo far behind you guys, (I'm in Australia) it bugs me that Mulder and Scully NEVER admit that there's like some chemistry going on there... It's like kiss her and get it over. But then I spose The X-Files would be over :/"

"All I have to say is that The X-Files holds its own name. 'X-Files' - when you think of that what comes to your mind??!! Dark subject matter...paranormal, aliens, UFOs ect... NOT comedy, light harded stuff... That's what Telletubbies are for!!!"

"I'm disappointed at the use of raw gore and goofy, simplistic story lines that stray far from the original concept, as a substitute for the eeiry, supenseful, and much more sophisticated plots that we used to see. I don't mind comedic overtones in fact, when used properly, I believe that they can heighten the suspense and sometimes provide a perfect entree into scary, abrupt plot twists. Oh well. Maybe they should let Mulder and Scully fall in love. I do think that this would spell the beginning of the end for the X-Files. Does anyone remember how 'Moonlighting' took a nose dive after David and Maddie consumated their love????"

"I am a shipper. However, I am not interested in a romance unless 1013 can pull it off without compromising or sacrificing other aspects of the show. I love UST, and if that's all they can manage without resorting to these tongue-in-cheek, not-quite- comedy episodes, then I would prefer that they hold off on the romance, and either try to rediscover the romantic magic of past seasons, or find some new tactics or writers to approach the romance in a more serious manner. I am a PAXFL!"

"I am so tired of this overly cutesy episode run. IMHO, it all came to a horrible head in 'Rain King' (which was nearly unwatchable). The obvious and annoying devices the writers are using to throw Mulder and Scully into 'shippy situations, one after the other, make me cringe!! The creators are really selling out, I believe. Time for some hardcore, dark, suspenseful episodes. (The writers seem to have forgotten that in order for XF humor to work, there also must be a dark and suspenseful element to counterbalance it. Even 'Dreamland' had a bit of that.)"

"Well, when X-Files Lite began, I tried to convince myself that the upcoming episode would have to be better. However, it seemed to never happen! If I wanted a cutsie show I wouldn't be watching The X-Files. Leave that to friends or whatever other show people watch out there. I want my Flukeman back, I want Evil!CSM, Dirty!Ratboy, KickAss!Scully, and Angst!Mulder. If this is 1013's attempt to pander to the 'new' viewers from the movie, they are doing a good job of getting rid of any old spark the show had. The ridiculous plot lines, the annoying big arrows saying 'Look at Mulder and Scully. They might be in love,' (BTW, I am a shipper, too, and I hate what they are doing to the relationship) and the 'Oh, did that happen... We don't think so' endings are driving me insane. No more X-Files Lite!!! (Woo, sorry for the ranting)."

"You know, I really didn't have much of a problem with season six, until I started watching the reruns regularly. Only then did I realize just how inadequate the new episodes were. I used to be a 'shipper, but the forced tension made me into a full-blown NoRomo. I can only hope that Chris straightens up for the final season! If not, why should I even bother watching?"

"'The X-Files' has turned itself into a pop-culture circus with it's anti-mytharic and laughable MotW episodes. It's just not the same, and I, for one, hate it. THE X-FILES IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CUTE AND FUNNY!!!!!

"I want my favorite show back. I miss the clever banter between two very intelligent and committed FBI agents. I miss wanting to watch an episode over and over because I love it so much. I miss...

"Redux II. sigh

"Remember when Scully offered to sacrifice her reputation to save Mulder? And Mulder couldn't take it from her? These scenes between Our Heroes made me fall in love with the show all over again.

"Now remember when he told her he loved her in Triangle? Lovely scene, but it didn't really move me the way the subtle inuendo of Redux II did.

"Remember when Scully offered incisive thoughts on a case? And 1013 were proud to have created such a strong, intelligent character? Now remember Scully's 10 minute ramble in Ghosts? shudder They made her look silly and completely dull, just to get a cheap laugh. I cringed.

"Post Modern Prometheus. sigh

"Remember the thrill of seeing Mulder shyly extend his hand to Scully, sweep her into his arms and dance with her to the strains of Walking in Memphis?

"Now remember when Mulder and Scully swayed to the music in Rain King? shudder

"Hollywood has changed a lot more than the lighting effects of this show - it seems to have drained the soul from it too."

"I am sick and tired of X-Files that have become overly 'cutsie', poorly written (Alpha was a good example of this), badly acted (come on!! Gillian and David--you guys can do better!!), and simply not the show I fell so hard in love with back in 1994.

"Guess I'll add my two cents worth for what it's worth. I've been a Phile since the first ep. It used to be the only thing I watched faithfully on the tube (except maybe some football if I had money riding on it). But now I've been taping the eps and watching them when I get the time. The only good shows were the 2-part myth-arc Two Fathers/One Son, SR819 (luv Skinner & Ratboy), and the season opener. I am an antishipper. I mean really, isn't there enough shipper type shows on now? We certainly don't need OUR SHOW to stoop to that level. Thats one of the things that makes 'The X-Files' so unique, a man and womam spend so much time together and not get it on. Oh man I luv that stuff. Anyway OUR SHOW is in a serious decline. The stories have been lame, stupid, sappy, etc, etc. The only eps that are any good are the myth-arc ones, thank God for that. I'll just keep watching all the conspiracy eps I taped off of FX a while ago. Thanx for the chance to vent my spleen as they say. Live long and prosper. Hoops, wrong show. Trust no one. "When I first watched 'The Beginning', I felt very uncomfortable--- I felt this looked like the movie too much. Meanwhile I was watching re-runs everyday, and I totally fell in love with the dark quality. Although 'Dreamland' are kind of nice, I can see more commercial stuff and the lines which was design to get more people... I want the old files back! I want the intelligence and the true concern about science, people, and unexplained phonomina. So, X-Files should go back my town! Only Vancouver has the cold X-like sunlight!"

"I detest this season. The writing has generally been less-than-stellar and uninspiring, and this so-calledly 'blatant' manifestation of UST in these 'lite' episodes has done nothing but exsanguinate any UST that had been there to begin with.

"My biggest problem with the 'lite' is that I think CC's made a big mistake this season with how he's structured things...there's been too much superficial and badly-paced and written 'comedy' with characterizations that are just off...while he's had a chance to explore seriously how not having the X-Files would affect Mulder and Scully's relationship...we've seen the death of UST. I don't feel it in the pit of my stomach any more... I suppose that could be attributed in part to the lack of passion they have for their work, and their relationship was basically an exceptional working relationship. That's not to say that it's only a working relationship and that they don't care about each other personally, because that's obviously not true. It's that their work is how they met, what's kept them together at times, and the driving force of consistent danger that makes them depend, trust, and need each other the way that they do. With that gone, I'd love to know how their personal relationship has been altered. We haven't really seen that. They're still on good terms, we saw that in the last ep (Tithonus) when Mulder kept joking about the toilet brush, but they don't seem to have that sexual tension going any more. You couldn't say that they'd secretly consummated the relationship to some sort of MSR, because that would probably make the screen fry even more... but I suppose you could say (stretching it) that they had consummated the relationship and the sex sucked, contrary to popular belief, and they decided that it just wouldn't work that way. Thus, curiousity sated, they'd continue as friends, because they care too deeply to destroy that, which would account for the lack of UST.

"Not that I really believe this former theory. I just wish that they'd have had an ep where M and S investigate scut work and stick to the job for once. I'd like to see some real interaction, some character study.

"Or, as my Phile friend Laura says, Spender and Fowley have the X-Files, and since this show is The X-Files, we should see them investigating something. Not full time, of course, but just as a comparison to the M/S relationship. After all, they are supposed to be a foil of sorts, and if you really review the eps, you find that the two of them have never exchanged more than a sentence onscreen, if that. It's sad.

"I think that most of this season has been squandered, shished, and kabobed.

"It's tragic.

"And, such is the end of my rambling diatribe. Thanks for hearing me out, everyone. =)"

"I absolutely agree with what everyone is saying here. To ruin the show with all this light-heartedness is getting intolerable. It's good to know there are some episodes such as Tithonus around, and Vince Gilligan isn't ALL for XF-Lite, or so it seems.

"Some people say How the Ghosts Stole Christmas is an example of XF-Lite, but I think it wasn't. It may have appeared that way because it was smack-dab in the middle of some XF-Lite eps. Perhaps if it was placed between other eps, it wouldn't seem that way. :o)"

"I am in total agrement with your assessment of Season 6. As an original X-File, I have religously watched the Files since its inception (I'm sure you hear that alot). I can accept a bad episode here and there - those things happen. But Season 6 was one after another! Barring a couple of episodes, it had none of the things that make the Files great and unique: good production like sound and music, plots that interwoven between myth and science, and scripts that engage the viewer with the characters on the screen. It was clear that the move to L.A. has affected the show negatively. Let's hope that Season 7 gets better."

"Yes, yes, yes!! I can only say ditto to your opening page. What a relief to know I'm not alone. The show seems to have gone over to Hollywood. Maybe Mr. Carter has detached from the show. It does seem as if the characters have be been taken over by mediocre media pods. How I miss the erie subtleties. Was it too much to hope it'd last forever? Also aggravating: promising answers to all the questions. Maybe some things should remain mysterious. It's nice to keep wondering.

"But I don't think the stars are meant to have a romance. Their affectionate friendship & personality conflicts are more amusing and realistic. Sex/romance sadly is just another gimmick of Hollywood's clicke machine."

"Humor on the show is great but the sheer concentration of lite episodes last season was too much. I enjoy the more subtle shippy moments between M&S--not that I count every hand-holding or eye-contact moment, but the "I love you"s and insinuations are too much. And HTGSC was very disappointing. Why not a Halloween episode?!"

Dana Hughes

"I've been a fan of TXF since "Deep Throat". It was intelligent, interesting, serious, and there was real chemistry between David and Gillian. I love Seasons 1-4, although I didn't care much for a few individual episodes. It wasn't until season 5 that I really began to become dissatisfied with the series, as it became more uneven. I realized that there are several problems with the series that would forever keep it from reaching its full potential - no continuity, little or no character progression, constant amnesia of M&S, etc. Still, the series remained very good in general. And I loved the movie, especially after the weak and contrived "The End". It had the series' original spirit, and it was fun.

"What a disappointment season six has been! After FTF, I thought the series was poised for a strong direction - a reinvested M&S with a strong partnership and relationship, a real direction in the mythology (finally), perhaps even some character development. From "The Beginning", however, ALL of this was abandoned. We were stuck with unnecessary plot-device characters (Fowley, Spender, Kersh), the X-Files closed yet again (despite being re-opened in the movie), and a M&S ignoring the events of the movie and the looming "end of the world".

"X-Files Lite only adds insult to injury. I was always proud of the series for having integrity - TXF handled the subject matter in a restrained and thoughtful way, didn't dumb down the show for new or occasional viewers, handled M&S's relationship with respect (and LOTS of restraint), etc. Even the comedy episodes were special by being rare and intelligently done. Lite does away with all of this. Not only has the series crippled itself, it has become silly and vapid. Bad characterizations, weak and cliche stories, sitcom style writing, and forced comedy (and too much of it). I can love the show even when it is hindered by no-continuity and no-character-development, but not when it keeps abandoning what made it a quality show in the first place."

"I just hate them. The X-Files are not made to be comedies or cheesy romantic stories. I was so depressed after seeing those episodes (Arcadia, Rain King, Dreamland I and II, Ghosts who Stole Christmas, etc). I think that the series should have end before. Because of those episodes, the series is not worth watching now. I am ashamed to say that I like The X-Files. The quality is gone and nothing could make The X-Files worth watching again."

""I see one the uncharacteristic motives, where has Mulder's drive gone? Even in 'Two Fathers' and 'One Son' he didn't seem at all interested. Everything he had once seemed to hold so dearly was being relieved... Scully all of a sudden has become the crusader, turning even the Lone Gunmen against Mulder. Strange, isn't it- the rehash of older episodes ie. 'Ice' turns into 'Agua Mala'. The plots have become tiresome. We have lost the original dark, satirical humour that Scully and Mulder have once had. The plots are weak and unsupported. And for God's sake, Mulder was going to save Fowley before Scully! May I bluntly say, 'What the hell!!!' The plots have become uninteresting with no more phileness than last season and others have possessed. I haven't been this disintrested in the Files since Scully was abducted. The writers are now playing on movies - 'Triangle' and 'Titanic'. Any one else make that connection? 'Groundhog's Day' and 'Monday'. Have we lost all creativity in that little room with typewriters? I just can't believe that Mulder and Scully have solved all the X-Files and have nothing better to do than go under serveillance as husband and wife. What has happened to Mulder's obsessive quest for the aliens?? Since the movie, he hasn't even cared. And why do the writers feel the need to try to kill the main characters every episode this season? And especially Mulder! When they were toying with Scully's life it was perfectly fine, but leave Mulder alone! There used to be a threat to their lives, but it was more believable. Now they shoot each other or get blown up every fifteen minutes. What happened to our government conspiracy? What happened to our dark, morbid world where Mulder and Scully were always down each other's throats about each other's beliefs?? I am sick of the chessiness that has invaded 'The X-Files', and for God's sake, Mulder and Scully, do it already!!!"

"Where, oh where is the X-Files we know and love? This is the question I've been asking myself for most of Season 6 thus far. As a 'shipper, I thought I'd be happy with the relationship-heavy content of these episodes, but in fact, I've been anything but happy. It seems to me that my biggest fear in the whole 'to ship or not to ship' debate has come true: the relationship has been focused on to the detriment of the plot.

"I started watching TXF from the onset, and I watched it because I wanted to see something intelligent and unusual. Most of the time, it lived up to those expectations. What I've seen this season has fallen drastically short of them. I never thought I'd see M&S swaying to the beat of 70s pop, or being squeezed into ill-fitting characterizations of themselves to serve a plot that's all but non-existent. Although I'm a 'shipper, I don't watch the show for the relationship. I watch the show because I like(d) the darkness, the paranoia, the intelligence, and the unpredictability. I don't want to see TXF degenerate into a limp facsimile of its former self, and so far this season, that's what it's been.

"What I have liked about this season has been that the interactions have made M&S -- especially Scully -- seem more human. They're showing emotions -- smiling, touching, even laughing. I like the acknowledgment that there's a bond between them that goes beyond the quest. I like that both of them are starting to express their understanding that their need for one another goes far beyond the professional. What I want to see now is how this relationship develops -- in conjunction with the return of the X-Files.

"What I don't like is the implausibility of the storylines themselves, and the complete and utter lack of reference to the X-Files themselves -- at least in terms of what might be happening while Mulder and Scully are off playing yenta in the heartland. What happened to their drive for the much-vaunted Truth? For that matter, what's been happening to Gibson while Mulder dances in front of the mirror in his underwear? Is he still crouched in the power plant, or was he lunch for the baby alien? And what *about* that alien? What have Spender and Fowley been doing all this time? Playing poker w/ the Syndicate goons?

"Hopefully, we'll find the answers to some of these questions soon. Or at the very least, the question worthy of being asked won't be: Where, oh where is The X-Files we know and love?"

"I had real trouble with TXF this season, for many of the same reasons you have stated on your page. What attracted me to TXF in the first place was the creepiness, the spooky sets, great acting and that fabulous chemistry! However, when these impostant elements, (especially plot or the lack of it) are missing, the show just doesn't hold as much interest! Milagro was by far the best episode of the season, shippy without beeing overtly so. This is a great cause and I'm proud to support it!"

"All through the sixth season I didn't mind XF Lite, because they were trying new stuff, and there are always going to be a few bad episodes per season. But by now I do see that it's just getting to be too much. What's bothering me especially is the costuming and lighting of the show---it's all normal, undark looking, for lack of a better term. "I HATE IT! I am in denial - I am trying to forget that "The Rain King" ever happened. "Tithonus" and "S.R. 819" were brilliant - so much like season 4 (the best season IMO for darkness and maturity) so why didn't they stick with them? What's happened?!

Sure, comedy's fun. I saw season 6 in an odd order since I was getting it taped by someone else for the first part and got the tapes at different times. "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas" was cute, then "Triangle" was okay, "Dreamland" was pushing it, and I finally snapped at "The Rain King". Judy Garland?! Give me a freakin' break!

The last ep I have seen was "Agua Mala" (which I liked purely for the MulderTorture) on Sunday, and I am praying to God that the season's gonna get better. I'm not even going to think about season 7.

" I'm a shipper to the core, but I've been watching this show from day one and things have begun to go down hill. I miss the partnership that our two characters once had. When was the last time M&S were in the basement? It has been so long since Mulder pulled out the old slide projector and forced scully to look at pictures of mutilated cows! It seems to me that the writers have lost touch with who these characters really are. If they think they can appease us with these crappy lite episodes they're wrong! Do they really think we viewers enjoy episodes like 'Arcadia'? Both M&S just seems to be going through the motions as if they've become bored by themselves, and I really can't blame them with the storylines they've been dealt with."

In my opinion, I think Season 6 was the WORST season ever! What a disapointment that was! Usually, I don't mind if we have a X-Files Lite ep every once in a while, but that's all Season 6 seemed to be made up of. It was in the middle of Season 6, that I started to have suspicions about it. I mean, I was thinking, it was already about half-way of Season 6 and I haven't been scared outta my wits yet! I dunno, but I don't watch 'The X-Files' for some ongoing, senseless plots and sappy monsters, covered with 50 gallons of humor! Come on... "While even the most avid fan of the X-Files enjoys a humorous episode every now and then, I just want the angst! Lite episodes drag down ratings, drive away fans (when there are many in a row), and with the exception of some ('Hollywood A.D.', 'Small Potatoes', 'The Unnatural', 'Jose Chung's FOS') , are not well-written. The best episodes are the ones that make you cringe from the creepiness ('Home', 'Brand X', 'En Ami', 'Leonard Betts'), sob uncontrollably (here is the shipper in me! 'Requiem', 'Memento Mori'), or even scream at the TV in disbelief ('Gethsemane', 'The End', 'Duane Barry', and of course, 'Requiem'). So here's to making Season 8 all about the angst baby (no pun intended). "

Manda

"I had high hopes for this season. I truly did. With the show beginning to wind down to it's final (TV) hurrah, I wanted to savor every last episode. But, the show I have been watching this year, with a few exceptions such as Shiban's wonderfully dark, intelligent, suspenseful (need I go on?) S.R. 819 most definitely is NOT my X-Files. Can we say too much sun for the 10/13 boys? Where's my angst? (And besides, who would have thunk it that we'd all be raving about SHIBAN? Now there's sign number one that this season is whacked out).

"I used to love it when X-Files did comedy, but the wonderfulness of the comedy came from it's subtlety. This season, the so called 'comedy' episodes have been out and out blatant attempts at laughs. And that REALLY hasn't worked for me. It's all extremely forced and just mainstream. Blah. Die XF-Lite, die.

"And another bone I have to pick with this season: the presentation of the M/S relationship. I have gone from a huge shipper to a major fence-sitter verging on noromoland (hey, a new word), and I'm pretty sure that it all comes from the writing. What are the writers on? All of the over-sappiness truly makes me want to gag. I can't even think about it anymore...

"Which brings me to my final, extremely well thought out and intelligently stated (if I do say so myself) point: XF-Lite just bites. So there."

"The chief problem of Lite is that the pathetic idiotic losers who actually believe that it constitutes a valid part of The X-Files, believe then that they are fans of the show. They totally reject classic MOTW and Mytharc (both of which I enjoy, especially when somewhat intertwined), but still profess to be 'X-Philes'. They make fun of those of us who actually have enough brains to understand something beyond stupid, sappy nonsense, whilst simultaneously pleading for us to explain to them the basics of it. The utter refusal of these nincompoops to see that without the good, solid MOTW / Mytharc episodes, the show would never have gotten to a point whereby they would be willing to watch it without fear of watching something 'uncool'. The fan base of the show would be much better off without these 'people' claiming membership. And it is for this reason that I hate XFLite."

"I started watching The X-Files after seeing the movie and watching the summer repeats and loved it, largely because of the dynamic between M&S and because it is the one TV show I have seen that takes phenomena like UFOs or other paranormal events and treats them seriously, with respect. It seems like for much of this season, XF has lost that sense of respect, as well as the respect for the intelligence of the viewers, as it gives us episodes full of bad characterizations and plots full of holes that are treated lightly. I still love the show, but...I want the old XF back!"

"I hold The X-files most reverend: it's one of the waning number of television shows that exemplifies intelligence, intrigue, and mystery. But judging by the recent season seven, this is no longer the show it used to be. The plot lines are weak and undeveloped. The acting quality has declined. The stories are just plain (crap). If the show needs to end to retain some semblence of dignity, then so be it. But seeing how it's signed up for another year, we can only hope the creators return to the horror and depth that The X-files is supposed to stand for."

"Bear in mind that I have yet to see a S6 episode, but just from the reviews I can see that people are not happy campers. When the standout episode so far is by John Shiban, you know things are not well in the Land of Oz... I mean X.

Like Folie a Deux the bad stuff is hiding in the light. Let's have some more lurking in the dark both literally and figuratively speaking. Enough of the comedy! Bad Blood will never be surpassed. Give us back Broody Angsty!Mulder and KickAss!Scully."

"I'm getting really bored with the shows this season. The only exciting thing that happened for me this season with The X-Files is watching the shoot for 'Two Fathers' and 'One Son'. Other than that, I'm not feeling the excitement and anxiety and apprehension and mystery that is so much the core of the emotions that have been evoked by the show for the previous seasons. I am, at present, on the brink of giving up on the show if it turns up any more weekly sap-sessions and lackluster attempts at keeping up the quality of the show. I hope it gets better just because I've invested so much faith in The X-Files over the years."

"Well, where can I begin? I think that the sad thing is, the ideas were still there in season six the problem lies with the development of those ideas. Sure, I like the funny episodes (Clyde Bruckman, Jose Chung, Bad Blood), but there was way too much liteness and humor last season. The comedy last season wasn't smart, it was stupid. It was almost as if the writers were trying to turn the show into a poor clone of Ally McBeal. Additionally, most of the comedy seemed forced and over the top. The writers were trying to hard to make the episodes funny. As a result, season six turned into the worst season in XF history. What really drove home the problems with season six, for me, was watching the older XF episodes on FX every weeknight. Some Sunday, I felt like I was watching another show. With the overuse of 'liteness' in season six, the writers took away many of the qualities that made the show successful during the first five seasons. In my opinion, there were only six good episodes last year--Drive, SR 819, Tithonus, The Unnatural, Three of a Kind, and Field Trip.

"My advice to the writers, don't put any 'liteness' in season seven. I'm not surprised that the show didn't get nominate for the series Emmy, nor am I surprised that the ratings fell off dramatically last season. If the writers don't eliminate XF lite, then the same problems will occur again this season, and they may ruin any chance for a movie franchise. Bring back the dark and scary episodes!!!!!!"

"I am not entirely against a relationship as it is clear that Mulder & Scully are soul-mates. But I wish they could put the romance on hold until the coming alien invasion is taken care of. I'd hate to see Mulder so pre-occupied with whether he can make it with Scully that the entire world falls slave to the aliens. I also found the whole Ally McBeal competition deal, so grossly displayed in the 6th season, extremely sickening. While there were a few highlights (e.g., 'Tithonus', 'Triangle'...) these were nearly overshadowed by the hideously cheesy eps like 'Rain King' and 'Arcadia'. I hope the writer who did 'Rain King' never writes again. The only explanation I can find is that Chris was drugged and GA & DD were threatened with their contracts.."

"It's ridiculous! I was 'hooked' after the movie, but the episodes got more and more mainstream as the season progressed. I had hopes for season seven, but 'Orison' has been the only one I've liked so far. Season Four and Season Five are what I think of when I think of XF. I actually missed 'The Amazing Maleeni' because I was tired of the goofiness of the writing. And 'Milennium'... I'm a Shipper, but that was the most platonic, disapointing kiss EVER! If they're going to get together, there has to be angst or desperation or something involved."

"I first started casually watching in early S5, when a freind threatened me. (Nice friends, eh?) However, after the same friend dragged me to the movie, I quickly became very addicted, and borrowed alot of her tapes. I fell in love withe the mysterious, dark, brooding, and romantic atmosphere the show created. As it has progressed, alothough I am a romantic, I feel that if the show must be sacraficed in order for a Mulder/Scully relationship, I would rather carry on without it. The episodes have, undoubtedly, become more (in a word) 'playful'. They're giving us what many originally wanted - A loving, playful relationship. However, they are NOT doing a good job of presenting it. If I wanted cheesey romance, I would be obsessed with (as much as I like this show) Dawson's Creek. XF seems to be turning into a petty little teenaged series, And although I am a teen, I am against it. I fell in love with this show for the dark, romantic atmosphere, and would like to see it end at it's best - The way it began."

"I think it is evident why many find XF-Lite disappointing. The comedy is too hollow, and there's no substance behind the episodes. The central focus should not be the romance, and the little quirky adventures that develop it, as the Lite episodes do. The episodes of season six could have been more artistically done they did not have to be butchered with such careless, uninteligent material. I kept thinking, "What are the writers *thinking*? WHAT arer they thinking??", and I was hoping the LA sun had not blinded them to the point where they lost sight of the show's direction. Hopefully, season 7 will be more satisfying. I am an X-Phile to the death, and will revere the show no matter it's drawbacks... but I would like to see it go out with dignity in its last season."

"I consider myself a shipper, but this season is about ready to make me turn in my card. First off, I am tired of being beaten over the head with the whole relationship thing. I am tired of total strangers commenting on their relationship. It WAS a very private and intimate thing, subtle and complex. Who wants a relationship that is only acknowledged by the people involved after it has been forcibly crammed down their throats. The 'everyone knows but us' takes away all the thrill of discovery. I am tired of people telling them/us how lonely and pathetic M & S are. I am attracted to the characters because they are intellegent, complex, adventurous, and in a noble pursuit of the truth. Not because they are pathetic, lonely (Ghosts), sex deprived losers (Dreamland).

"I think the writers got a lobotomy over the summer. I nearly fell off the couch when Mulder said 'I am not a psychologist.' (Terms Of Endearment). Was the degree from Oxford only honorary? And if Scully does not wipe that smirk (head down, looking up, eye-brow raised) off her face soon she will lose all objective credibility. What a change from the enthusiastic 'Mulder could be right' days of the first season. I miss them working together, doing dective work to chase down clues, the suspense, the tension, subtle character interactions, and the danger. I miss the UST too.

"Watching the reruns and then watching season six is like watching two different shows. Mulder and Scully swaying to the 70's tune was so lame (Rain King), contrast that to the dance sequence at the end of Post Modern Prometheus which was well done. I think the writers should get out all the old show videos, lock themselves in a room, and don't come out until they remember how good The X-Files can be. X-Files Lite must go!"

"I'm not sure I belong to this group because I do enjoy eps that are not Mytharc related. I was one of those X-Philes who are just happy to see new episodes, but a few too many of season 6 are pretty hard to watch. 'Agua Mala' had the most horrible cast ever (give me the stone-faced Vancouver bit players anytime). 'Terms of Endearment' could not keep me interested enough to stay in the room so I taped it. 'Alpha' was just so bleah that I still have to watch the entire episode on tape. To this day, I shudder everytime I think of the Mulderdance scene = ugh! And the writer of 'Rain King' needs to be slapped upside the head.

I have one request to 1013: NO MORE STUNT CASTING!!!! Stop the insanity. This is not ER. People do not tune in to see who's the guest this week. We like familiarity."

"'Gethsemane.' Suicidal-gun-toting-tear-dropping darkness, with some terminal illness to boot. 'Memento Mori.' 'Herrenvolk.' The reason I started watching this show was for the shadows. The trench coats. The vapors that escaped David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson's mouths during night scenes in Vancouver (a simple effect that they will never be able to replicate in L.A., no matter how they try). Silences. Torment. Mulder crouched in his doorway, hands grasping for the air in front of him as sobs crawl from his gut in 'One Breath.' Humor was almost painful--because there was so little goofiness. The fourth season (the season that got me truly hooked): some of the darkest moments of the show. 'Paper Hearts.' Angst, silences, and darkness have driven this show from the start. We do all the work, we keep our mythology straight, and we're left with what? Season six. Who knows what to make of XF Lite? Are CC and all his buddies at 1013 simply mocking themselves? This--obviously--is impossible to pull off--especially for an entire season. (Jose Chung's FOS was close...) 'Wetwired.'--fantastic. Now we'd probably have to smoke out Mulder and Scully to get them even convincingly paranoid! What happened to the 'romantic quest...in the literary sense' that CC spoke of in early '98? (before the movie came out) Mulder hasn't been horribly tormented by his sister's disappearance (i.e. crying in a church with a picture of her in his hand)--or anything else for that matter for a while now (then, in 'Biogenesis' he brings her outta nowhere--as if now she's any more than a convenient excuse for his gun waving and his brooding over Mimi Rogers). I admit it: They're amusing to watch--those Lite Eps--so little calorie content, so easy to work off!! But their sweetness has almost made me lazy in the mythology dept. (I start thinking 'why can't Mulder just go through another time warp and pretend he's married again?'....) The bottom line: I like my XF dark: full of tear dropping porn watching socially inept no place to sleep tormented looking death wishing obsessive angst. So no more light stuff, Chris. Bring on the pain."

"Well, I've noticed that ever since the beginning of the 6th season the majority of the episodes have either had weak, sleep inducing plot lines or have been extremely corny. It's now almost half way through the 7th season (the LAST SEASON!!!)and every ep. so far (with the exception of "Orison")has been XF-lite. I miss eps like 'Squeeze', 'Irresistible', and 'One Breath'. I haven't seen Cancer Man or Krycek at all lately. I wish the eps were the way they were in the beginning. The only reason I watch now is because I am a loyal, die-hard fan who keeps hoping it will get better.

"I am a big time shipper, but all of the XF-Lite episodes ruin the cute moments Mulder and Scully could be having. I miss the times when M and S held hands and it actually meant something. "

"Mulder's passion is gone, but does he fight? No, he sits in a computer room mumbling about... When was the last time Scully performed an autopsy? When was the last time they argued over scientific facts? When was the last time there was a scientific fact over which to argue? Scully seems to have lost her edge. Gibson in 'The End' and 'The Beginning' could have been a good start? Why the immediate switch from suspense, mystery, drama, unexplained events to out and out blatant(unbelieveable) sci-fi? My heart stopped when in the season opener a corpse was shown seated on a sofa with his chest cavity exploded. I couldn't believe Chris made the decision to go pure sci-fi. I shook my head, worried. This wasn't the same show any longer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Where's Darin Morgan? Help, Vince! Don't bank on L.A. writers. They've been in the sun too long."

"The weak plotlines and annoying dialogue of Season 6 are very annoying. It isn't the premise that the show should have lighter moments (Small Potatoes and Bad Blood were excellent) but the shows of season 6 have just gone overboard."

"Exactly what you said on the front page - in the past I tolarated The X-Files departures into wackyness or 'alternative' styples (ala Post-Modern Prometheus) because they were well written and, in the case of Darin Morgan, beautiful little vingettes on life and the people who inhabit it. There was the occasional 'piece of crap' comedy (Detour and Quagmire), but I just igorned these.

"Unfortunately, CC and co seems to find it immensely funny to make the majority of episodes (after an extremely promising movie) comedy-like. The Beginning treated us like toddlers, with it's spelling out of plot and 2-dimensional fodder for the alien. Triangle was a fun Mulder-dream romp, but marred by long and induldent walks down dark hallways. I'm in Australia and I just saw Dreamland, and have to say it gets a big fat ZERO.

"I have no idea what the writers are trying to prove by turning The X-Files into some kind of bad 'bludgeon you over the head with jokes' comedy. It's damn frustrating. The past couple of seasons, Chris Carter and Co have run dangerously close to losing their fans by letting a LOT of crapola slip through. Season 5 was the worst, but tollerable. After the intense, beautiful movie, I was hyped for season 6. Unfortunately they must think after the movie they've picked up a host of lowest-common-denominator IQ fans, and must cater for them. This indeed is sad.

"Let's hope 1013 stop this crap, and at least if they ruin season 6, keep the last season (season 7) pure to the original spirit of the show.

"I won't stop watching it, but I'll certainaly be very sad.

"big sigh"

"I agree with the others. This year pales in comparison to any of the previous years, including the very early years. The first and second season have appeal because they document a series trying to find itself, find its themes, etc. They may have been cheesy but that is the appeal. Seasons 3,4,5 are excellent examples of imaginative story-telling, and are an example of a crew that figured things out and were enjoying their creative outlets. The episodes were cool, dark and great to watch. This year the show seems to be going through growing pains and badly thought-out changes, as it panders to the lowest possible audience in an attempt to increase viewers for the eventual "Star Trek" style movie series that is in the future. It has been a painful season so far, with few exceptions. With talks of the show ending after one more year, hopefully the The X-Files will go out with its dignity and class intact, instead of a bad imitation of its former self."

"I was so glad to find the PAXFL page. I think pretty much everything I could say about XF-Lite has already been posted. I would honestly have to say I was dissappointed with Season Six. I wish we could once again see new episodes of the quality show that was coming out of Vancouver."

"It's so nice to know I'm not the only one! For too long, I have been voicing my opinions on 'X-Files Lite' in the chatrooms, but alas! It was met with nothing but shipperly 'sighs' and cries for more. The general thought seems to be that these 'lite' episodes are an attempt to bring Mulder and Scully closer together, whereas the greater episodes of seasons past were a commentary on life in general, ('Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose', and 'Jose Chungs From Outer Space'). The fact is simple: The X-Files has become more and more like it's main character, Mulder. The show has become alarmingly egotistical and self absorbed. Season 6 is the ultimate proof of this. 'Arcadia' served as nothing more than a cutsey vehicle for Duchovny and Anderson to display just how adorable they can pretend to be. At least episodes like 'Bruckman's' and 'Jose Chung', had a point, a commentary on society delving deeply, yet humbly, into topics such as relative truths and loneliness. 'Arcadia' was a shallow attempt by the writers, and a telling vision of the fact that they have simply run out of ideas. The move to L.A. seems to have aided this recent trend in the 'lite'. (Dont get me wrong, I love L.A.! but this is The X-Files!) Sunshine and track homes simply are not a substitute for the bleak backgrounds of Vancouver. What it comes down to is this: The X-Files has become snobby and self-absorbed: rightly so, as it now has more viewers than it ever did. But these attempts to make our show more accessible to the casual viewer has cheapened what I so loved about it: a knack for scaring the shit out of me."

"I didn't think that anything could top the utter dreck that was The X-Files fifth season (excluding the rare gem such as 'Kill Switch', notably not scripted by an XF staff writer) but I guess I should have learned one can never be too disappointed in what was once one of the most fascinating, well-written and dark series on television.

"'The X-Files' is a show that once kept me awake at night with visions of mutants, murderers and ooze-dripping flukemen. This was in the glory days, before it started raining hearts. The relentless stream of comedy episodes this year has been nothing but a cheap attempt to ape the inimitable Darin Morgan, whose 'comedy' episodes were actually IMHO among the darkest of the series in content and tone. Writers like Chri$$$ Carter and Frank Spotnitz will never be able to touch his man's talent, nor should they try. Comedy is simply not what 'The X-Files' should be about.

"And God knows it's been a grim season when one of the best episodes is written by John Shiban. XF should have quit after the (bad) fifth season and cut its losses. The move to LA has not only killed the tone of the series, but the look as well: the Bruce Campbell episode looked like a GWAR video. Basically, the only frightening thing about the XF this season is that its new California location enabled it to hire truly D-grade stars such as (shudder of fear) Victoria Jackson."

"It honestly is getting too un-X-Files. The plot is empty. Frankly it doesn't surprise me anymore. They are sometimes making a vain attempt to be funny. The ones David wrote sucked. It honestly is the plot that is lacking. Now I watch X-Files and feel like I just watched nothing. There is just nothing to it. It is no longer sci-fi enough. I want monsters and gov't conspiracy. Instead I'm getting.....I don't know what it is! "

"XF-Lite just makes me want to puke. The Beginning was fine. Plenty of mytharc to keep us interested. Then it just started to fall from there. Drive and Triangle were both ok. Plenty of shippiness in Triangle to keep the shippers interested, and plenty of the Lone Gunmen to make people like me happy :-). Dreamland and Dreamland 2 were a little better. They're my favorite of the episodes this season, because I like the humorous ones. But not to the sappy level of Rain King. Dreamland has now provided me and my friend Ashley with something to do in our free time: worship the sacred dimepenny. I actually sawed a dime in half and superglued it to a penny. Not that stable, but what the hey! Terms of Endearment was just stupid. It barely had any plot whatsoever. I was fighting to keep awake! Rain King just sucked. It was so annoying how they attempted to make the episode shippy or whatever... Anyone know what the heck they were actually trying to accomplish!!!??! SR 819 was just dumb in my opinion. Way too many plot holes. Now Tithonus, despite how idiotic I thought the episode, has slight value. I've scanned in pictures of myself and friends and used an art program to turn them black and white. But all the fun I have with that doesn't necessarily mean I actually LIKE the episode. Far from it. I can only wait until the 7th when Two Fathers premieres."

"*^*^*%&$*&&%)*%$%&&$@%^!!!!! There are no words to describe the utter humiliation, week after week, of telling people that the show used to be good and this really isn't how they act at all.

"Shipper, noromo, or fencesitter, it doesn't matter. Mulder-lover or Scully-worshipper, no difference. Can't they see that we're here for the STORIES? And not some kind of side-show I've-got-a-bridge-I'd-like-to-sell-you cheap lounge singer's life kind of story. No, we got hooked on the 'round the campfire, shivering under the covers late at night stories, the primal touch of fear and humor and sadness that prime time TV rarely delivers all in one package anymore.

"My site reviews the episodes in little blurbs, and I try to mention a theme, or a deeper meaning... until this season. It takes everything in me to edit all the derisive comments I want to make about this fluff! I even find myself settling for second best... and then I realize, no, I don't settle for second best, and Chris Carter shouldn't either."

"It is simple. I simply miss the dark and moody atmosphere which The X-Files brought us all for the first five seasons of the show. I believe the move to Los Angeles, the guest actors now being selected, and the new writers and staff on the show were all contributing factors in this. Bring back the original X-Files! And bring back Mulder and Scully's trenchcoats!"

"Ahhhh! 6th season sucks! With lines like 'I'd kiss you if you weren't so ugly,' it's no wonder why some are under the impression that Chris Carter is out of ideas. These cutsie episodes are ok once in a while but when they override, it really bites! The once moody Mulder is now less disturbed and more peaceful. The episodes are becoming too 'shipper' focused. Scully doesn't get pissed anymore. Mo more 'Damnit, Mulder, cut the crap!' It's like Mulder and Scully are becoming Sonny and Cher. This season is a recall of 'The Wizard of Oz'. They don't show as much of RatBoy and CSM. Mo more killings. What the hell! They might as well replace it with 'The Brady Bunch'. All the respectable X-Philes are at home watching reruns instead of waiting in anticipation of Sunday! Well all I have to say to Chris and his writing team is 'Cut the crap!'"

"I think that the 'nseriousness' ruins the nature of the television show, The X-Files. The opening credits do not show that X-files will be funny and happy and just oh so peachy keen. That is not X-Files. The episodes are so sweet and cute, it's stinky! Whenever I see eps. like that, I get bitter. I want them to finish off the conspiracy issue. But they, in turn decide to go chasing decapitated magicians. What is happening to the CSM at that time? Why isn't he following or plotting like he usually does? Aaahh!! I want the old episodes back!!!"
