Review of Triangle by Sue Brody Here are some musings after watching the best ep in quite some time... Thank you, CC! I love you, mon. The best part of the whole ep for me--and this highly surprised me--was the 10 minutes (or so) when Scully swerved all over the FBI, trying to find *someone* to help her locate Mulder, something we haven't seen before. Normally, Mulder ditches Scully , Scully finds out where he is, rescues him ba da boom, a la Nisei/731. NOT THIS TIME. Whether or not the Bermuda Triangle/Queen Anne "event" was real or a dream (and I could care less at this point, it's *intent* and you can make arguments either way), *she* found him, thanks to Skinner (Skinner now rates the big two thumbs up in my book!) and the Lone Gunmen, and we *saw* her efforts to find him, both in the office and then later on the ship. Aside from all the hilarity in the office, and there are far too many moments to go over here, this is *such* a change from previous seasons, and one I truly hope 1013 will continue using. It ws just so nice to *see* Scully, to see her panic (no, *this* is my panic face!), to see her Kick!Ass (okay, Kick Spender's ass, mostly, which was lovely as hell), to just...see her go. It was a slightly different Scully, truly Action!Scully, and I loved every minute of it. The kiss on the ship didn't do it for me as much as the last scene. THAT was the biggie. Mulder really meant it. He said the "l" word and he meant it. Man, what a goofy smile to fade out on. *blissful sigh* Scully *showed* as much in her scenes, but now it's time for her to come forward and *tell* Mulder I feel quite validated in knowing that Spender, Kersh, and Fowley are baddies. A Phile on the XF-Romantics pointed out that Kersh in 1939 was somewhat ambiguous, meaning he could also be in 1998, but I ain't buying it. He's a baddie until proven otherwise (man, that scene with him and CSM, so reminiscent of CSM in Blevin's office, had such *power*). The camera shots were beyond wonderful, the two Scullys crossing over was magnificently done, and dammit all, this was just an incredibly fun episode to watch!!! I have never seen an ep the same night after it aired, but I was with a group of Shippers, and we ran up someone's room and watched it again. So, this is the ep we've been waiting for for so long (we knew CC had it in him), and I now am very optimistic (!) for the rest of the season. I'm sure other eps will come along that will disappoint me, but I can deal. *This* is the one we all needed, wanted, and dammit all, why wasn't *this* the movie?! Maybe because it was just a present to all the Philes who have stuck with the show for oh oh oh so long, and it's cheaper rewatching the video of the ep than seeing the movie 15-20 times, the way some of you did. CC was thinking of my expense account, perhaps. Thanks, CC.
