Review of Three of a Kind by Sue Brody First, a question: Why did my VCR go wiggy on me during the teaser? It's spooky...or just maybe... It was a sign that I shouldn't have bothered watching this ep at all. Vince, Vince, Vince. You let me down. *sigh* You, too, John, and I *don't* mean Byers... First a warning. This is not a happy review. If you liked or loved the ep, perhaps you will want to stop reading right now. You have been warned. Where the hell *was* Byers during the end of that dream in the teaser? Oh, who cares? I don't have much to say about this ep, b/c I didn't like this ep. Actually, I *hated* this ep. WHY can't The X-Files let sleeping dogs lie? First Kitsenugari (when Pusher was just fine) and then TOAK, when Unusual Suspects was just fine. Feh. Feh on 1013. Feh. I know nothing about poker, so I'm not even gonna *go* there. I do know that Frohicke was a *bit* too obvious... Loved the voice simulator (so I liked about 30 seconds of the ep). Glad Scully didn't have on too much lipstick, like she has in other sleep sequences. Ah, to pine after someone for 10 years...but I would have preferred just *knowing* it, not seeing it. And we *already* knew it, really, or could have guessed...can anyone say FILLER EP?! Burn, baby, burn...my favorite thing about the hour was the disco night Bud Lite Commercial they aired...now if *that* doesn't say something... If there are any more references to excrement this season, I will SEND some to 1013. Feh. Scully: "Whose they?" Langley: "You know, them." HAHAHAHA. I say that *all* the time. So another 10 seconds I enjoyed. That scene w/ Scully COMPLETELY EMBARRASSED ME. It was not funny. It was not clever. It was pathetic. Pathetic. NOT FUNNY. Not that I have strong feelings about it ...I was *so* embarrassed watching it. NOT FUNNY. NOT FUNNY. Hickey. Hahahaha. NOT. Light my fire...grimace. Oh...yeah....Morris. WHY? Scully patting Morris's butt. NOT FUNNY. Like I *needed* to be reminded of Dreamland (I) again. No, but thanks. Hated it before, still hate it. Langley retching during the autopsy...shock. It was *so* much more clever in US when Susanne took out her molar. I thought it *was* clever the way that Susanne didn't die, but then again, most of you prob. figured this out in advance, unlike me. This felt so deja vu. We have had mind control (Pusher, Kitsenugari) and they were in FAR better eps (well, Pusher was). We had this govt. conspiracy thing in Unusual Suspects. We had Byers' love in US as well. We *knew* Grant wasn't gonna end up being a good guy. I mean, WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS EP THAT WAS REALLY ORIGINAL?! I also liked Scully's call to Mulder, who of course had no idea about this. "I am gonna kick their asses." So I liked all of ONE minute of this ep. Finally, how sugary sweet was the end of TOAK? Of COURSE Byers isn't going to go with Susanne. Duh. It's nice that she loves him, too, but didn't we learn that in Unusual Suspects? Gads. I am just disgusted. I hope FIELD TRIP is better than this ep...now I remember why I started PAXFL... Note to DD: Please write another ep. Note to Vince: Please write future eps by yourself, and don't do sequels. Thanks. Go ahead, fellow Philes. Convince me that I should have enjoyed this ep more. I will give you a big tip (Get it? Hahahaha NOT.) if you can. This episode felt as recycled as most of this season has. It was built on a waste product, just like that community in Arcadia. I am not a happy Phile.
