In keeping with the spirit of my feelings on the episode, here is a new style of review - stream of consciousness. :) Wow. That was excellent. I was totally shocked (and very glad I hadn't been spoiled). Picture me sitting on the couch - after spending 55 minutes feeling utterly nostalgic - and gasping. I did not see any of that coming. Loved Krycek, Marita, Byers, Frohike, Langley, Skinner, and Mulder and Scully all working to together on the same side. Rocked my world. I want a print of that shot in Skinner's office. Autographed. By everyone. The CSM isn't dead. For the second time. He's gotta be in the next movie. Oh yeah, and I didn't think you could talk through your mouth with a trache tube in. Krycek looks good wet. How I had missed Billy Miles and Teresa Nemens. And that big orange X!!!! ::nostalgic sigh:: And Bellefleur, Oregon! OMG. I'm such a sentimental sap. ::Rebecca pulls out her Pilot episode to watch tomorrow:: Speaking of which, when Scully knocked on the Mulder's cabin door, who else hoped like hell she'd answer his "Who is it?" with a resolute, "Steven Spielberg!" And that she was coming in there with small dots on her lower back. I guess them climbing in bed together and having Mulder whisper in her ear is CC's version of them baring themselves once more - this time it was Mulder, though, not Scully. And, ohhhh... that cuddle. Man, were they close. I need a cold shower. One thing I noticed about this scene: When Scully thanks him for snuggling with her, he nods slightly, even though she can't see him. I thought it was cute. :) Loved Skinner's emotion at Scully's bedside. I don't think I've been that moved by the man. Was Mulder really willingly abducted? Seemed to me he was in some kind of trance, and he didn't have much choice. Didn't catch him wearing Scully's necklace, though. Gonna recheck that one. That last line blew me away. Not expecting it, even though my roommate totally picked up on all the foreshadowing I missed. (Why is it that all the die hard fans I've talked to missed it while all the casual viewers picked up on it immediately? Are we just used to Scully's reproductive status being thrown at us?) How cute was Scully playing with that baby - and Mulder watching her intently. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Scully's baby is Mulder's. At first, I had thought they'd conceived during that Spooning Cuddle (during a lost nine minutes ), but Scully was sick before that. When "all things" aired, I honestly didn't believe they had slept together. Now, I concede they might have. Like everyone else has said, she was obviously pleased about her condition, and she wouldn't be unless she knew exactly where it came from and was happy about the father. I don't believe she's seeing the CSM on the side. Here, though, is an interesting theory from a friend of mine. Scully's fainting spells are a result of a psychic link between Mulder and Scully caused by the pregnancy- the alien brain firings in Mulder's brain affect the baby. ... Interesting, to say the least. All in all, I *LOVED* "Requiem". Considering that I haven't liked much at all of Season Seven, I am thrilled with "Requiem". It was my old show back again. If Season Eight can be spent like this, I'm now all for it. Let's hope it gives CC and company a new start. Wherever he takes this new angle, I'm happy right now with the finale. I'll miss Mulder next season, but he'll be back. And I'm really anxious to see where this new development takes us. But, man, this ep was already far too sad. I don't know if I can take another "full circle" thing next season. God help me if they ever bring back The FBI's Most Unwanted or the infamous Nine Minutes. (And why didn't they...?) Signing off with a smile and a sigh...
