"Theirs always another way." ~ Skinner

Yeah, I know its the same quote I used for Memento Mori...

You see, this is the other way. Skinner has to do CSM's dirty work for him, by burning a body, covering up evidence, pretending to be Mulder, the usual.

But nothing about it makes sense. Why would the Syndicate infect bees with small pox so that the bees could infect humans? Why if you're had a vaccine for small pox are you still affected by the bees? How is Mulder able to figure out the cover-up so quickly and thouroughly this time, but draws a blank with other cases? Was Jane killed on purposed or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time? How come the bees never killed anyone else? How did the bees get inside the wall? Why is Marita Covarrubius playing both sides and why does Mulder trust her? Why isn't Mulder visiting Scully in the hospital? What does Skinner's wife think of all his covert activities? How is it that Skinner was never charged with the Detective's murder?

Etc.

So, the point of the episode works, that Skinner indeed must pay the price for dealing with CSM (although Scully apparently isn't getting any better if her cancer is metastasizing), but the execution is too weak to make it bearable.

Of course, Spotnitz did have a hand in writing it, so...
