Requiem - 05/22/00 "This is the end, my only friend..." ~The Doors Okay, so it's not the END end, but it is the end of a bad season. I rather liked "Requiem". I got my mythology fix, a little Mulder and Scully 'friendliness', redux of good episodes from long ago, and a not too stunning cliffhanger. I did feel that M&S made references to "the past seven years" or "seven years ago" too often. After all, it was eight years ago and not seven that they were first thrust together. I thought CC did a decent job of writing and Manners did a great job of directing, but the acting really got me. I thought it was the best acting we've seen all season, even if Scully was a little out of character. Krychek and Marita Covarrubius were back, along with Skinner, The Lone Gunmen, and a dying (and now presumably dead) CSM. It's always great to see them. Overall, it was a basically uneventful episode to be a finale. Scully's pregnant, Mulder was abducted (in a dull and uncreative scene, I might add), Skinner is now a "believer" in all this alien crap, and Krychek killed CSM. Even if the episode was EXTREMELY predictable, I don't really care that Mulder was abducted. We all know that he'll be back at the second half of the season, but how the hell is Scully pregnant? That should be interesting... Rating: 4 lounge chairs out of 5 "Father, yes son, I want to kill you..."
