"I know the difference between expectation and hope". ~ Mulder

First of all, there is no city in Georgia called "Rigdon".

This is really great episode for so many reasons.  We learn alot about lake monsters, Moby Dick, and our two beloved characters, Mulder and Scully.  We get a pretty awesome monster of the week, too.

How many times has Mulder called Scully on a Saturday morning and told her to be ready in five minutes?  How many times have they flown to some God forsaken place, driven two hours, and chased after Mulder's next big thing to prove the existence of?  How many times have our daring duo ended up stranded out on a rock in the middle of a lake (just a stone's throw from shore) and shared stories about childhood fantasies that they've never outgrown?

Answer: not enough.

Scully is so right when she tells Mulder that his future will be to point a camera towards the sky, and only listen to himself ramble on about aliens and such.

And we know that as much as she swears she hates it, she will be right behind him, one hundred percent.

I feel good after watching this episode.  Mulder and Scully have a definite friendship and respect between them.  I feel that this episode can be a testament to their enduring partnership.  If you ever start to miss the bantering back and forth between them, or start to doubt their crime fighting abilities, or even start to wonder just how close they are, watch this one. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Now, bow your head and take a moment to mourn the loss of Queeqag.

Damn dog.
