Orison - 01/11/00 "No body cans top the world Mulder, I don't care how many holes they have in their head." ~ Scully Such a Scully answer, no? No. My first problem with this offering came to me just after it returned from it's first commercial, after the credits. Chris Carter wrote "Irresistible", so why the hell didn't he write this one? Doesn't it make sense that if you bring the devil into this world and dress him in a buttoned down shirt, you stay with him through adolescence? While writer Chip Johannsan (or how ever you spell that) did a fine job of writing this episode (assuming that he has the intelligence of an eight year old girl with ADD who had been repeatedly beat and raped by her drunken dad), I tend to think that it would've been a helluva lot better if papa Christopher had written it. It seemed that ol' Chip couldn't decide which way he wanted this episode to go in, ScullyAngst or MotW. I also have to wonder if he ever saw the original "Irresistible" or just had papa Christopher explain it to him, 'cause you know how tedious those explainations from him can get... oh and at the end, when they ran out of script but still had a few minutes of episode to fill, the director (who I didn't happen to catch) decided to slow the camera down and fill up all of that extra time. Mulder always looks soooo stupid in slo-mo. And is it just me, or does GA's new hair cut look HORRIBLE not to mention make her look like Punky Brewster on some serious crack? This episode had seven good minutes in it, non consecutively. I actually felt my pulse quicken when we saw the illustrious Mr. Pfaster eyeing Scully from inside her closet, and then going to commercial. To bad the ending SUCKED! I almost think John Shiban could have written it better than that. Really, no kidding, Shiban! Musings of a K.M.C.: - Do you remember Punky Brewster? - As I sit here listening to Jimmy Buffet, I am reminded of good music, something Scully obviously doesn't know of. For that matter, neither does Chip. - That scene where Mulder shows the good Reverend the picture of that girl in the tub, I kinda got a Jack the Ripper-ish feel... one of the seven good moments of the episode. - Doesn't Scully lock the door to her apartment? - See, I was thinking about the "Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah...." song by the Doobie Brothers. Not that other pop-crap we got stuck with. Sorry, I'm just stuck on this. - I didn't ever get the feeling in this episode that Donnie Pfaster was 'the devil in a buttoned down shirt'. He just seemed like a hardened criminal to me. Another satisfied customer of the American Judicial System. "God bless the U.S.A." indeed. - I am so incredibly sick of seeing Scully as the victim I could rip out my eyes with a grapefruit spoon. Really, a grapefruit spoon. Even "Tombs" made a better sequel that this crap. Rating: 1/2 lounge chair out of five "...as the floor caved in a the boiler in the basement blew..." -Bob Dylan
