"Where is she?" ~ Mrs. Scully
Okay, six years later and I'm still analyzing this one. That's what happens when you write and produce an episode that's almost perfect in several ways.
It's so intense, you feel like the air weighs 500 lbs and you can't breathe!
I empathize with Mulder so much in this one. Here he is, running between Skyland Mt. and DC, interrogating Duane Barry, dealing with Krycek and Skinner, answering questions to people who don't want to hear the truth, not sleeping or changing cloths for fours days, all to find his partner. I don't expect anything less from him, but he surprises me by being as zealous and unrelenting as he is. I know he'll find her.
He also finally catches on to Krycek's extracurricular activities. I genuinely feel sorry for Mulder. I think he had almost begun to trust Krycek.
Mulder sure hit the nail on the head about why they took Scully: "because her termination would impede further involvement with me and my work". Now that's tragedy and drama. Poor Mulder.
Even thought Skinner re-opens the X-Files at the end, Mulder doesn't seem to care. All he wants is his partner back.
CC, Spotnitz, are we taking notes for Mulder's return later this season (8)?
