Sorry for the delay!  Gotta love these holiday weekends.  As with the
last long weekend, I had to wait a couple of days to see an exceptional
episode.  From start to finish it was a blinder.

The teaser of Scully holding a dying Mulder was stunning.  Much like
SR819, when the credits ended and I saw that both were still alive, I
expected to see the "24 hours earlier" legend to appear.  By the time
the bank blows up and Mulder is found in his waterbed again, you
realise that we’re stuck in a loop like Groundhog Day and the only one
who knows is Pam, doomed to watch day after day despite her efforts
Mulder and Scully end up in the bank and everyone dies.  The subtle
differences are played out very well, but the outcome is always the
same.

This is the X-Files I love!  Gillligan and Shiban have come up with a
stellar script, albeit from a well worn idea, and given us one of the
highlights so far of the series.  The acting, as usual, is what makes
this episode. I loved Carrie Hamilton as the anguished Pam.  It’s a
pity that they kill off all the interesting characters and leave people
like Diana Fowley alive!  Watching Gillian Anderson’s pleas in the bank
were heart rending, but then again, I defy anyone to emote as well as
she does.  Yet 2 minutes later I was laughing like a drain at Mulder’s
bedroom exploits and Duchovny’s pratfalls.  That was the unexpected
delight of Monday.  It was tense, emotive and laugh out loud funny.  It
had the potential to fall on it’s face, but given the work of all
concerned, it succeeded where more high profile episodes like Dreamland
failed.

A few more Mondays and a few less Agua Malas, and life would be good.

Stuff

So Mulder wears pyjamas too?  Damn.  Damn, damn, damn, damn! (Am I
being just a tad gratuitous here?)

I couldn’t decide if Duchovny was doing impressions of Homer Simpson or
Cartman  with all those squeaky noises he was making.

And 7.15 is late?  What kind of Government Agency are they?  The
Monsters!!

I think Scully is in a worse repeating hell than Mulder!  If I was
stuck in a meeting like that, I think I’d prefer to be blown up by a
mad bank robber too.

Maybe they could send Agent Arnold and his reports to the bank.  Save
us all a lot of angst.

Hey Mulder, haven’t you ever heard of Pay Path?  (ie getting your
salary paid directly to a bank account?  Welcome to the 20th Century.)
