it's as simple as this: these albums/artists have kept my faith in music alive for the past 4 months. In my opinion these are the best albums of the entire year. |

If you like the Neptunes (super producers of just about everyone in hip hip and even pop) then you're going to like N.E.R.D. (No one Ever Really Dies).
In their album In Search Of... the Neptunes created their phat beats and then re-created them using live instruments. It's a sound that's different yet really easy to enjoy. It's easy listening if you want to chill and even if you feel like getting up and dancing. I bought this one the day it came out (after listening to it online...so that tells you how much I wanted it!).
If you are tired of everything that is out there, then pick up this CD, it got me through the summer.... |

K-OS hailing from the T-Dot is a great addition to Canada's hip hop community. Like N.E.R.D. his album has a mix of beats and live instruments (I just LoOOVe that!). At first I didn't think I would be able to get into concious hip hop (because I'm superficial..bling bling!) but K-OS changed my views on that, and it was such a pleasure to hear something new and apparently meaningful.
His album EXIT took him 29 years to make (he claims) and it was worth the wait. Go out and buy this album, this guy is going places.... |

The Doves were definitely a suprise find for me this summer. I saw their video There Goes the Fear on the muchmusic uncharted spotlight and was taken by their sound. 20 downloads later I was a fan! I have listened to their second album Last Broadcast for hours at a time on repeat and still have not gotten tired of it (amazing for someone with my attention span). These guys hailing from Manchester are big in Britain, so we will see if they hit here. If not, this side of the ocean will be missing out...BIG TIME! |

OK so, I've heard Kylie's latest release Fever only once, but her singles tell me that she is exactly what this summer needed. Pop is a necessity to keep us happy and carefree and Kylie is great at giving us tracks that make us feel just that. Her latest, Love At First Site is soo fabulous that I sometimes just listen to it again and again. Kylie is older, more experienced and seems genuinely greatful (she was really humble at this years Brit Awards when she won her first one..ever!). So if you ever just want to enjoy the sun without a care in the world, put on her latest and sing along 'la la la..' |
