Choosing a vet
Before you bring your new puppy home, you need to select a vet. Selecting a vet is the same as choosing your own family doctor. Ask your friends, family, neighbors, check credentials, and visit the office to see if it's right for you. Here is a small check list to help you ask the right questions.
Your veterinarian should be someone you are comfortable with. A good relationship and communication between you and the veterinarian is the best health insurance for your pet.

Check out the facilities. Are they clean? Is the staff caring and helpful? Do the office hours work with your schedule? What options they provide for after hours emergencies. (Many pet owners when faced with an emergency in the middle of the night, realize that they have no idea where to go to get help, so please make sure you have all phone #s handy. And find out in advance where you should take your pet in case of an emergency. This could mean the difference between life and death).

Take into account that traveling with an injured pet is very stressful, and if it's a life threatning injury you have no time to waste. A location that is convenient for you can be a real advantage.

Before buying pet health insurance, find out if your vet takes it, or ask what insurance they recommend.
We are putting together a petition to "Stop Animal Testing". It will go out to major companies that DO testing on animals. Please take a moment to add your signature
