After you've finished digesting the annotations on my own site, there is an outside possibility that you may still have an appetite for chess. It is even remotely conceivable that you might be interested in my advice on where to go next. Sounds like we're on the same track? Good.
For both of you who are still with me, I've brought you a list that only includes the best of the best of the best, sir. With any of these sites, you cannot go wrong.
- Chess Cafe This site offers fabulous monthly columns by Tony Miles, Mark Dvoretsky, Chris Depasquale, and many others for free. What more can I say?
- The Week In Chess Every week, you can download a thousand or so recent games from strong events that just happened all over the world. These games are not annotated, but you can still get a lot out of a thousand recent games with a good database program, which brings us to
- Chessbase For one thing, this is another good site for articles and game downloads. Plus, you can download "ChessBase Light" if you don't have a suitable chess reader already. This will allow you to read the files from my site, and all of the other good pgn downloads you come across. If you are a serious player, you will be interested in buying the full version of their products, which are also available here.
- Kasparov Chess This site also contains tons of useful game downloads and analytical articles, including Kasparov's own comments to many games. In my opinion, the best feature of this site is that it is constantly being updated. If you are following a live tourney, the games always seem to be here first.
