PAUQM-About Us

A large number of Malaysian students, either from Semenanjung, Sarawak or Sabah have passed through Forgan Smith arches, have lied down on the Great Court staring at the Blue Sky of St. Lucia, been at Herston and every other part of the Academia, especially the Refectory.

We came back and have done our part for our Country. And many of us are proud to be the products of the University of Queensland.

Then there is a need for an association

The setting up of an alumni association for UniQue graduates in Malaysia became a reality in late 1996. The official registration with the Registrar of Societies was obtained in 1997.

Before this, a number of alumni had put in efforts to prepare the ground for the formation of the association. They included Dato Abdul Ghani Othman (the YAB Menteri Besar of Johore), the late Tan Sri Jaafar Hussein (Governor of Bank Negara), Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (CEO, Guthrie Group), Prof. Madya Dato Dr. Nik Najib (University of Malaya) and Dato Mohd. Aidid Shariff (KPMG). Encouraging words were also given by the evergreen Mr. Poh Sin Bin Ernest and many others.

The momentum soon gathered during the UniQue Convocation in 1995 at Pan Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. A group of alumni got together and prepared for the formation of PAUQM.

And now, here we are. It is hoped the Alumni Association will continue to bloom and flourish..........
