Paul in Kingston, ON
Monday, April 9th, 2001 ~ The Grand Theater
The night before my concert, I learned that the North Bay concert had been cancelled, which caused me to dream that the Kingston concert was being cancelled as well. I woke up, scared to death... but I finally realized that it was all a dream. All day ( like, every 5 minutes) before I left for the show, I kept on saying " I'm going to see Paul, mommy ! " She was patient with me ;)

Kery said that she would call around 2h00 to come and pick me up.. Three people called it was finally her ! She and her picked me up , and then we went to get Tamara and her mom, followed by  one of their friend's. For a good part of the trip, we listened to the Greatest Hits CD. You can imagine how the music was just getting me even more pumped. The first thing we did when we finally arrived to Kingston was check out the venue, and get our tickets. We then went for dinner. I was going completely nuts, 'cause it seemed like the wait was eternal ! *lol* I picked up some flowers, and then we were on our way.
As soon as I arrived, I immediately went to the merchandise table  and pre-ordered a couple CD's. I heard someone talking to the girl who was selling the t-shirts, and when I heard her name, I finally realized who she was. "What did you say your name was ? ", and she replied "Jenna". So I asked if she was his sister, and she said yes. So I talked with her a bit, and I asked her how Brogan was doing. She said that he's doing great, and that they got to see him right before they left for the tour.
( Kery, Tamara, and me ~ before the show )
So, it was time to find our seats. We thought we had 3rd row, but when we got there it turned out that it was technically front row because even though our seats were placed where 3rd row seats should be, we had no seats in front of us. Aaron Lines was the opening act, and he came out and did his thing. It was just him and a guitar. And one point, he was talking about how he first got to meet Paul, and how Paul gave him his phone number and email address, and I screamed out "Pass it on to me !" He smiled, and the crowd laughed.. He also told us that his brother's wife  had a baby on Sunday night (April 8th, 01 ).

Between shows, we talked to some DJ's and told them that we were from Ottawa, etc. Tammy, Kery
( Me and Paul's sister Jenna )
and I went back upstairs and they bought a couple pictures. I talked to Jenna a bit more, and show her the pic from the news paper... the infomous pic of Paul and I publish the the Ottawa Sun... . I also told her about my web page, and she wrote down the address and said that she would check it out. I got a pic taken with her, and then ran back down to my seats 'cause the show was getting ready to start . The DJ who was introducing him even mentioned that we were from Ottawa ! *lol*

So, finally, Paul comes out, and I got nuts ! He started with "Small Tows and Big Dreams". He looked at me and smiled and I just freaked out !!! Then he sang "That's the Truth"... OMG !!! " Got the pedal to the metal......" Yeah, so again I went crazy. Since we were so close-up, he could see us very well, and he kept on smiling at us . At one point, he introduced "Take it off", and the crowd started screaming, and I yelled out " Shake it baby ! ". He started laughing, looked and me and " Oh, behave !!!" It was sooo hilarious !!!! Later on, he started talking about Steve Rosen, and he was just saying the title of the songs they have written together. When he got to "Yeah !", he said it in a deep voice in the mic, and I screamed out "Do it again !!! ". Paul said " Wild and crazy country fans .... I got to keep you asking for more ! "... So funny !!! Before singing "I Do", he started saying " It (the song) reminded me of my girl friend, or my wife, or the girl friend I got after my wife", and I yelled out " ME !!! ". He laughed, really he did ! And it was so cute when he was saying "I don't know if you'll remember any of my songs, or who Paul Brandt was in 50 years from now ....", and I answered "I will ! " . He said "Thank You ! "
It was amazing how many times he looked at us, etc !!! He performed this one new song called "That Dream" . OMG ! It's such an awesome song !!! I like it better than "he Sycamore Tree". He made fun of Thompson, MB, and SK all night. He was saying that those are his favorites provinces now *lol* He was just saying that it was so cold in Thompson, that he wasn't sure if they were clapping to warm up, or because they liked the songs. He also said that the fans in the audience were wearing mittens. He even said that the bus broke down in "Nowhere's Ville, SK" . To have them fix the bus, he had to take a picture with the mechanic's horse ! *lol* Too cute !
( Me and Aaron Lines )
His encores were "Yeah !" and " The Sycamore Tree". and "Scrap Piece of Paper"

After the show, we went and met Aaron. He's a very nice guy, and if he says that sweet, he'lll make it far. He told me that the baby was named Andrew Aaron, and that it's his 2nd nephew.

After that, we went and waited in line to meet Paul ! Tammy met him first, then Kery.... And then I just went up to him and gave him a big hug. I really needed one !!! I gave him the flowers, and he opened them up there. So sweet ! And when it was time to take the picture, I said "We're going to do this right" (he laughed), and we took a hug pic. I told him that we came down from Ottawa, and skiped school, and he laughed and responded " There we go, I'm a bad influence again ! " Before I left, we were talking about something, and without my needing to mention it, he told me to keep him posted on the web page ! I was in shock !
Anyway, before we left, we went and said goodbye to Jenna. I told her that we got to see him and she said "I'm glad you got to see him. It wouldn't have been the same if you hadn't. " She was very nice.
I must say, that the people in Kingston were a tamed bunch !!! They weren't as crazy as the Ottawa fans ! Yeah, he was playing a small venue, but I remember back in the Center Point Theater days, it was still crazy. I had an awesome time

I have seen Paul in concert many times over the last 4 1/2 years. I must say, that Paul is an even better performer now than I could have ever imagined. This concert was an acoustic show ~ I have to admit, that I'm not too crazy about those types of concerts, but this one just surpassed all my expectations. Paul has grown as an entertainer. he feels the songs now, and the way he interacts with the fans makes the concert just that much more enjoyable.
