Paul in Ottawa

It's kinda weird how it happened, really... On the morning of Nov. 13th, I woke up with the feeling that Paul would be coming to Ottawa... within hours, I heard that he was going to play a "must win to get in" show in Edmonton... and then it was announced that he would be performing in small venues across Canada to promote the new album... I KNEW he'd be coming here ! ... 2 days later, we got the news that he'd be appearing at the Lonestar Cafe on Dec. 3rd.....I knew it was a *must win to get in* kind of deal, and I was prepared to spend day and night by the phone in order to win tickets....... but, as always, there's a little loop hole to win these tix. In order to even be eligible to win tickets, you had to have tickets to the Lonestar (the group) concert...... I didn't have tickets.... I was NOT very impressed with the way that they delbt with this promotion !
Anyway, at the very last minute, I decided that I would at least try to luck at maybe meeting Paul before his show. I got to the Lonestar around 3h45, and the Canadian Man Van was there.... I FLIPPED !!! I saw this guy, and he said to me " Hi, would you like to meet him and get an autograph ?!" , and I was, like, " UM, YEAH !!!!! ". Then this guy is like, "Oh, he's not here right now !"... I was like Yeah, right ! (... I didn't really say that though.) Bayleigh was sleeping in the window of the bus. She's so pretty ! I don't like dogs, but her I like ! I also saw his dad (his bus driver!), but I was too chicken to go talk to him.
"Paul's not here right now " my eye !!!! I could see his belt buckle through the window. He was talking on a cell phone .. I was just standing there, part nervous, part excited. |

About 25 mins later, he came out of the van and said hi to me, and then " I'll see you at the show later, ok ?!..." , and I was like "I don't have tickets to the show !!! :(", and then he came to see me. We talked for a bit, I got my hugs...
P ~ So how have you been ?

I also told him I liked the new album and that I went to the Kingston show... his manager went to get a pen for him to sign my CD. While the guy was gone, Paul and I were alone. I was so nervous that I couldn't speak ! I waited outside for 3 hours ! Yeah, it was cold !!!
The show started around 6h15... I went inside, and discovered that they were playing the show downstairs, so I got to watch it from there. He signed autographs after the show, and I kinda, sorta, maybe, managed to sneak upstairs !!!! Woo hoo !!! |

As I was leaving, someone came up to me and said, "Are you Jennifer ?" ~ it was Nat from Paul's board ! She was really nice, and it was fun meeting her ! She recognized me from my web page. |

While I was waiting in line to meet Paul, I had seen this guy whom I thought was a DJ @ our local Country station. As I was leaving, I saw him again. I had emailed him in April after I had found out that he was a fan of Paul's... he had checked out my webpage, and event promoted my page on the air... so I went up and introduced myself... as it turns out, he remembered me ! I was quite surprised !
To make a long story short, Christmas came early for me this year ! ;) Paul will be touring again in the spring, and I can't wait to see him back on stage, for a REAL show ! ;) |
