Paul in Ottawa ~ July 1st, 98
Canada Day * Parliament Hill
Canada Day Wednesday, July 1st, 1998  Couldn't  wait for Canada Day. I'd be seeing Paul for the 1st time since last October. My plans were that My cousin and I would take the 1st bus that went down town to be able to get to Parliament Hill as early as possible. My alarm clock didn't go off so I had already missed the 1st bus. But the worst thing was that it was raining. It had been nice out all week, but that day, it had to rain.

Paul was to perform on the Canada Day televised special live from Parliament Hill. I wanted to get there early so I could be the closest to the front as possible.
We got down town at 9hoo AM- 12h00's before the show , but it was raining so we decided to go sit in the lobby of the Westin Hotel.
I had made a big " I love you Paul" sign for television, but it kind of rained on it so I had to though it out. We were running around the hotel looking for Paul because we were certain that he was staying  in that hotel. It was kind of fun to act like tourists.

At 12h00 we decided to go sit on the Hill, even though it was raining. We were waiting for my uncle, the one that went to see Paul with me the first time. He arrived a couple hours  later. We went running around the world famous Rideau Canal, and finally found a path that led to the back of the Parliament Building. We wanted to climb up from behind, but we kind of had a feeling that wouldn't end up to well!...

It stopped raining around 6h00. Half an hour before the beginning of the show everyone was up on there feet singing song. My uncle left us alone and said he'd come back at the end of the show. 9h00; it started, I was flipping out. They were introducing the artists... " And from Alberta, de l'Alberta, Paul Brandt!" I started to cry. Paul was the first one to perform. He sang " Yeah!" and it was super awesome. I was jumping around, screaming at the top of my lungs, and gasping for air because I was crying so much. The thing is, I have asthma, and I had forgotten my inhaler. At the end of Paul's performance, I made my way with my cousin though 100 000 partying maniacs looking for a paramedic.   We found some cops but they thought that I was nuts so they just sent me off with a bottle of water. It took me about 1h00 to stop crying and to catch my breath. Me and my cousin had left the Hill, and my uncle couldn't find us...Oh boy! It was midnight in the city, and we were lost... he found us eventually.

All of the commotion was worth it , seeing Paul on Canada Day made my summer.
