For Parents

Now, I'm sure all of you have heard of Poke'mon. Credit card bill getting higher for some reason and you don't know why. Well, most of you think that Poke'mon is a fad and it'll go away really soon. Well, Poke'mon has been in Japan ever since something like 1995, 1996. Poke'mon started out a video game in Japan and then got more popular and eventually got it's TV Show, Trading Cards, Websites, even underwear! Well, if you want to know more go down lower.

Ash (right), a young boy from a place called Pallet Town is determined to become the
greatest Poke'mon Master of all time.

Pikachu (left) was Ash's first Poke'mon. Ash and Pikachu didn't like each other when they first met, but once they fought off a bunch (and I mean a bunch!) of Spearow's, they were best friends!

Gary Oak (right) is Ash's enemy/rival in the show/game. Gary has caught a lot more Poke'mon then Ash has and makes Ash jealous due to all the Poke'mon he has.

Professor Oak (left) is Gary's grandfather. He was the person who gave Ash Pikachu. Prof. Oak works as a Poke'mon Researcher trying to find out questions on Poke'mon life.

Ash's mom (right) is lika a person who wants to make sure that her child (what she'd call it: sweetie-pie) is always OK.

Brock (left) and Misty (left) are two of Ash's friend's. They decided to journey on with Ash on his quest to be a Poke'mon Master. Brock has a lot of brother's and sister's. He used to be the Pewter City Gym Leader.  He also drools and slobbers over cute and pretty girls. Misty is a water poke'mon trainer. She was going to be a sensational sister, but she left because she was too fed up with her sisters and wanted to become a great Poke'mon Trainer.

Nurse Joy (left) and Officer Jenny (right) are two people that you see very often in the show. There are more then one of them. Some are twins, other's are cousin's, etc. Nurse Joy's work at Poke'mon Center's. They help heal Poke'mon (although they couldn't do it themselve's without the help of Chansey's!). Officer Jenny's stop crime anywhere (although, they couldn't do it themselve's without the help of Growlithe's!)..

Jesse (left) is a bossy pre-teen and is part of Team Rocket along with James (left) and Meowth (right).
James (left) is also a pre-teen who is usually found with a rose in his hand. He also goes around looking for girlfriends.

Meowth (right) is the one of the only two Poke'mon who can talk (himself and Mewtwo). Meowth dreams of marrying a Meowth from a fancy place. Meowth learned how to walk on his hind legs by looking through a crack in the floor of an attic and holding onto a rail with a paw. Below the attic, they had gymnastic lessons. The way he learned how to talk was by practicing saying "She sells sea shells by the seashore" over and over. Then he learned to read from a book with pictures to describe which word he was supposed to say. For example: "M" would be "Marry."

And Poke'mon isn't JUST a fad. It can also help children to do better in school. In one of the episodes, it showed that electricity is an conductor for water. It also teaches kids to believe in themself, kindness, etc. So parents, if you think Poke'mon is just a fad, think again! If you have any questions, E-mail me at [email protected].
