WHERE ARE YOUR PICTURES?

When you place the CD into your CD-ROM drive, it should automatically open the
Photo Tools Software Installer screen with options to install
Microsoft Picture It! Express or to run the Walmart Picture Viewer.

OPTION 1 - Microsoft Picture It! Express
To correct, print, and share your photos with friends and family, select the
first option and install Microsoft Picture It! Express (Note: The program will
only install upon first use). Once installed, the File Browser screen should
open. From here, you can select the location of the pictures you wish to edit.
Your CD has two sets of pictures (i.e. Pictures that are good for printing;
and Previews that are smaller and better for emailing.

OPTION 2 - Walmart Picture Viewer
To view a slide show and perform some minor editing of your pictures, select the
Walmart Picture Viewer.

Note: Your pictures always remain on the CD. If your CD does not
automatically run, double click on My Computer to see the Photos or "PIE2K"
CD-ROM drive. If the drive label indicates something else, try the CD
in another CD-ROM drive; such as a CD-ROM burner (i.e. CD-RW). It may not be
reading the second session, which is where the pictures are found.

EMAIL CONFIGURATIONS WITH PICTURE IT!

Microsoft Picture It! Express will link to Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express,
Hotmail, or Netscape Messenger to send one picture at a time. You can email
pictures with AOL, Juno, or other email programs by using the "Attachment"
function to email one, or several pictures (see ATTACHING PICTURES TO EMAIL).

To configure Microsoft Picture It! Express to use one of the email programs
listed above, follow the Outlook Express example below:
1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer by double clicking on the 'e' icon on your
   desktop.
2. Select Tools from the top of the menu bar. When the drop down menu appears,
select Internet Options (The lowest choice).
3. Select "Programs" on the second to last file tab.
4. Make sure that Outlook Express is the program listed next to E-mail. If it is
not, change it by pushing the small button with the down arrow just to the
right of the program that is selected and choose Outlook Express.
5. Click on the Apply button.

You should be ready. By opening Outlook Express, it should automatically import
all address books and so forth from older versions of Outlook Express. If not,
you can choose Import from File on the menu bar.

ATTACHING PICTURES TO EMAIL

You do not need to save any pictures to your hard drive to email pictures. You can
attach them directly from the CD. Most emails are similar but do vary in some
aspects. This should help guide you through the process.
Here are the 7 easy steps (some programs may differ slightly):

1. Open your email program and start a new note (i.e. WRITE MAIL or COMPOSE)
2. Click on the ATTACH button (it may have a PAPER CLIP or ATTACHMENTS icon).
3. At this point, some emails ask whether you want to attach or detach (if not,
skip to the next step). Select Attach. An insert attachment window will open.
On this page you will see either LOOK IN: or BROWSE
	     a. LOOK IN: Clicking the gray arrow button just to the right of the
"look in" window will allow you to choose a drive (see below)
	     b. BROWSE: Clicking this button will allow you to go to MY COMPUTER to
select a drive. Choose your CD-ROM drive (labeled "Photos" or
	        "PIE2K"; possibly D: or E:)
4. Double click the "Previews" folder.
NOTE: The pictures contained in the "Pictures" folder are of higher
quality and larger in size. These are suggested for
printing, but will take longer to email. The pictures in the
"Previews" folder are suggested for viewing on the screen, but
they won't print as nicely as the pictures from the
"Pictures" folder. If you wish to send numerous pictures in an
email message, use the pictures in the "Previews" folder.
5. Once you open the "Previews" folder, you will see "Roll 1". Double
click this folder to see your images listed.
6. Single click an image and push the OPEN or the ATTACH button. Your image file
is now attached to your email. You can attach more than one image file if you
wish. Remember, most ISPs will only allow you to send 1,000K(1MB). After you
have attached a file, some email programs will return you to your email (write
page). Some will wait until you choose DONE or OK. Others may wait for you to
   close the attach window.
7. Type the address of the recipient, the subject, and the text you wish to add
   and SEND your email.
NOTE: If you are editing your pictures in Microsoft Picture It! Express
before emailing them, be sure to open the "Previews" folder from the
"File Browser" screen first. After editing, select the "File", "Save As"
functions. This allows you to choose the location, type of file, name,
and even a description of the image.

FILE SIZES (Important regarding email)

Our scanning process produces two sets of pictures (i.e. Pictures that are good
for printing up to an 8 x 10 print; and Previews that are smaller and better
for emailing.

1. The Pictures folder contains High-resolution images that are great for
printing. They do take more RAM to edit. You can still email them, but
uploading and downloading will take longer. Emailing of the
high-resolution images is recommended if the recipient plans to print out the
images or use them in a project.

2. The Preview folder contains lower-resolution images that are great for
viewing on the monitor. They require less RAM to edit and are faster to work
with. They email easily, and more can be attached to one email than the
high-resolution images. The print quality is not as good as the
   high-resolution images.

All of the pictures will open with 72 dpi as that is what monitor viewing will
produce. The actual resolution of the Pictures folder is 1536 x 1024 pixels;
the Previews resolution is 768 x 512 pixels.

If your pictures appear grainy, check your monitor settings to be sure they are
displaying as many colors as your graphics display card and monitor can handle.

To access your settings:
1. Press Start, Settings, Control Panel, and Settings.

2. Next, if the color settings are set at 16 colors or 256 colors, try to change the
settings to High Color (16 bit), if available. The program was designed to
