Us on a fountain

Us on a fountain

Ok, guess which one's me!

This photo was taken on the same day as the 'Firepower' one. This fountain is in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, just down the road from the castle and cathedral. Just after this was taken, the action started. All the guards started to do their formal marching and displaying, and an area was roped off. It turned out that the president was 'coming home', so they put on a bit of a display.

Over the road from the Palace, there is a building that is riddled with bullet holes. An old bloke outside the palace told us that it was a result of the uprising against the communist Soviets (which failed). He said he was there, and he was one of the people doing the shooting! He told us that the whole of the surrounding area was littered with the dead bodies of the Czechs who were fighting for freedom.

On a lighter note, the place was situated on the top of a hill that offered fantastic views of the city.
