My Paul Walker Experience proudly featured
Sitting in the dimly lit restaurant, the 25 year-old chats with a group of girls from Williams H.S. of Plano and tries to decide what he will order. At a quick glance, the young man has the spirit of a teenager and is dressed in a comfortable pair of pants and a casual sweater. Taking a second glance though, this handsome man looks somewhat familiar, but a name does not immediately come to mind. With
four recent films released in two years, Paul Walker continues to increase
his fan base, most noticeably in the rise of fan pages on the Internet.
His recent roles include the high school jerk, Dean Sampson in She’s All
That and star quarterback, Lance Harbor in Varsity Blues.
Paul, who started as a toddler in commercials and appearances on TV shows such as “Charles in Charge,” “Who’s the Boss?” and “Diff’rent Strokes,” got into the business through his mother, who was a model. “I had connections because of mom,” Walker said. “People that she knew were always asking her, ‘Why don’t you bring your cute son here with you?’” Going back to high school in southern California, the teen heartthrob participated in football, basketball and baseball, but not the school’s theatre department. “I went to a Christian private school that had a weak drama department,” Walker said. “The teacher would always ask me to join though.” After graduation, the actor went from one community college to another throughout Southern California, majoring in marine biology. “Once I had a taste of acting, I wanted to go back to it,” Walker said. “If I were to go back to college though, I’d get a teaching license if there were more money in teaching." Walker enjoyed being an instructor for a day when an old girlfriend let him teach her second grade class the multiplication table. “I think teaching is so gratifying,” he said. Although becoming a teacher may be his second choice profession, Walker does not feel like he should be in high school. “I had a lot of good moments and memories from my own high school experience, but I’m sick of the teen slasher stuff,” Paul said. “I like teen romances, but I think I do dramatic scenes the best.” Walker, who played the character of Brandon Collins on “The Young and the Restless,” went from the soap opera scene back in 1993 to the roles of Phil Deedle in Meet the Deedles and Skip in Pleasantville last year. Often portraying a jock, Paul remembers the locker room pranks he pulled in his high school days. Click here to continue reading...
