under consideration
From THOMAS JEFFERSON : SCIENTIST, 1952 by Edwin T. Martin 'Julien Niemcewicz requested seed of the seneca root (sorry to bother the President with this, but seneca root is useful in medicine and Jefferson might thus help to save some child's life). He received rutabaga seeds from an English traveler, also seeds of the breadfruit tree, a Chinese mulberry plant, moss picked at hot springs near the Washita River and sent to President Jefferson for him to examine the animalculae in it (which Jefferson sent onto Benjamin Smith Barton, for he had no microscope for such work in Washington.)188 |
