The New York Society for General Semantics

IN NEW YORK
During the autumn Columbia University Institute of Arts & Sciences (the Extension division) presented a series of introductory lectures on General Semantics. ( . . ) The series was arranged by three of our members, Max Sherover (IGS 1949), Harry Maynard (IGS 1949) and Allen Walker Read (IGS 1941, '45), as part of the education program of the New York Socitey for General Semantics, Inc., founded in 1944 by Ben
(W. B.) Harrison (IGS 1945, '46 and IGS Trustee 1947-48). Mr. Harrison lives in Manhasset, Long Island, and was chief mover in arranging the in-service teachers course giventhere by Irving J. Lee of Northwestern University in September ; see report elsewhere inthis issue.
Late in the winter a follow-up course in G S will be given at Columbia by Francis P. Chisholm (IGS 1940, '44, '45, '49), extension lecturer for the Instituted. (Etc.)
The Speech Association of America metting was held in New York in December while this Bulletin was in preparation. A number of Members of the Institute and former students of Korzybski's Seminars . .&nbps;. attended the meetings . [the program reproduced. (WPT)]
