Welcome to The Pauls Valley Police Department K9 Unit Website. Currently Pauls Valley has 1 K9 team. SGT Kruse and his partner Johnny. I am very new to K9 work. I started in Dec. 2001. The Police Department would not purchase a dog, so I took it upon myself to start the K9 Unit at the department. First I had to purchase a K9 and they are not cheap$$$. I started by rescuing a 1 yr old German Shepherd named Johnny from Rick Greenland, who runs Oklahoma German Shepherd Rescue. Next I had to train Johnny. I found a great K9 trainer and Handler Major Matt Mixon of the Garvin County Sheriff's office. MAJ Mixon quickly got Johnny and I both trained and ready for CLEET certification. Currently Johnny is only trained in Narcotics detection, but we are working on much more. With the help of Maj Mixon, of course.
Johnny and I have been making great strides in his narcotics detection work. We are also working on tracking and Obedience. Johnny is enjoying the tracking, but I don't think he likes the obedience much.
