My name is Paul Smathers. Born and raised in Ohio, I have traveled to 49 of the 50 states and numerous countries.

I  retired from Job Service North Dakota as the Local Veterans Employment Representative in the Jamestown Office on February 28, 2003.

The Governor of North Dakota appointed me to a three year term on the Administrative Committee on Veterans Affairs on September 1, 2002.

On September 1, 2002, US Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neil appointed me to a two-year term as a member of the
IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Panel.
This panel is designed to bring taxpayer concerns to the IRS and to provide citizen input into the administration of the tax code. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any problems you would like me to address .

I frequently speak to civic and governmental agencies on veterans' employment issues and patriotism. If your group is looking for a speaker feel free to

I am a Life Member and Past Commander of Chapter 31, Disabled American Veterans in Jamestown, the Edgeley North Dakota American Legion Post and the Edgeley Vets. I serve as Service Officer for the Edgeley Vets.

I served in the Nayy from 1965 until 1976 as a Hospital Corpsman. I was medically discharged as a HM1 (E-6).
