| My name is Paul Smathers. Born and raised in Ohio, I have traveled to 49 of the 50 states and numerous countries. I retired from Job Service North Dakota as the Local Veterans Employment Representative in the Jamestown Office on February 28, 2003. The Governor of North Dakota appointed me to a three year term on the Administrative Committee on Veterans Affairs on September 1, 2002. On September 1, 2002, US Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neil appointed me to a two-year term as a member of the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Panel. This panel is designed to bring taxpayer concerns to the IRS and to provide citizen input into the administration of the tax code. I am a Life Member and Past Commander of Chapter 31, Disabled American Veterans in Jamestown, the Edgeley North Dakota American Legion Post and the Edgeley Vets. I serve as Service Officer for the Edgeley Vets. I served in the Nayy from 1965 until 1976 as a Hospital Corpsman. I was medically discharged as a HM1 (E-6).
