"Der Reigen" a theatreplay by Arthur Schnitzler.
This is a play for 10 actors/actresses. Each person has conctact to two other persons in the play, but there are always just TWO actors at the same time on stage.
So, for example:
The chambermaid has contact with the -> soldier and the ->young man, the young man has contact with the chambermiad and the ->young woman, who has, of course, contact with the young man, and the ->husband, and so on,
so, that, at the end, the play builts up to a perfect ring, that's why it's called the "Reigen" (= Round dance).
At first, I show you some of my notes from my scetchbook:
The actress The young woman
To get into the time of the theatreplay (end of the last century), I draped some fabrics around a tailors'doll, and made some scetches of it. ( see below)

I planned the whole atmosphere of the play for a stage-design like a train-partition.

I drew lots of things and little scenes in my scetchbook, collected photos and articles from newspapers and magazines to get closer and closer to the characters.
Then I had to decide for the final costume-designs.
