| Week 5 | ||||
| Another week down and another dollar not earned (we don't get paid). I would have to say week five was the worst week I have had yet at Depot. Also it was not a good week for Troop 35. For myself it was bad in that we had our skills test this week, Relay 'A' to be more specific, Relay 'B' had patrol drive 2. Anyways there are 5 stations that you get tested on during the skills test. To make a long story short I failed one of those stations. So now I have a 'U' hanging over my head. I retest in a couple of weeks, if I fail that particular station again I could be on my way home. Great, that is all I need more stress. Everyone else in the relay passed, so that is good for the troop. The other bad news this week was that one of our troopmates has left. He had injured his ankle shortly before coming to Depot and it never had time to heal properly. Depot is not the place to come and heal an injury, so he made the decision to leave and come back when it is healed up and he can participate in Depot to the full extent. We will miss you Jaret, good luck!! We also had a very physically demanding week at Depot. With 3 Fitness and 3 PDT classes on top of our everyday workouts it really was draining. Even classes that usually aren't that physical were draining, example drill class. We were practicing a move that we had done the previous week and we were not performing it very well at all. Our drill instructor got so mad he told us to march out of the drill hall. But when we got close to the doors he changed his mind and made us do 10 to 1's instead. That is doing 10 pushups at one end of the drill hall then running to the other end and doing 9 pushups and back again to do 8 and so on. We also are loosing 3 members of troop 23 who share our dorm with us. They are graduating on Monday and going to their respective detachments across Canada. They helped us a lot in the early days with the routines of Depot and of the dorms, Good luck Guys!! On a fun note, on Monday I had my second kit issue, I got to try on some more of the final uniform, like the pants with the yellow stripe down the side (blues they are called), and the high brown boots. My shooting is coming along still, I went to Cadet night on Thursday night to get some practice and it helped out some. I have to keep practicing my trigger pulls. But, I am one week closer to graduating, only 4 months left. After I retest that skills track and ace it, I will be more relaxed. Until next Week, go 35!! PS- I didn't have time to do a week 4 update, nothing big happened then. I have some pictures for the week, they are getting approved, so check back later in the week to see them. |
