Week 21
Wow, what a week!

I will just cut to the chase and let everyone out there know that everyone in Troop 35 PASSED all their finals!!!!

Now that we have that out of the way I can tell you about what happened to myself this week.

Monday started out with the final that I was fearing the most, final detachments.  I was worried because I feared that one little mistake could fail you and then you would have a 'U' hanging over your head all week for the rest of the finals.  I can't go into detail of what happened during the scenario but I made a few mistakes that concerned the Corporal so after the scenario was done he told me to wait while he checked some stuff out.  I thought when he said that I had failed, so I sat there waiting for the longest ten minutes I have experienced here at Depot.  When he came back he went over what I did wrong and explained to me how I could correct them and then he said the magical words "over all it is a P."  Oh the relief!!  That was a huge load off of my mind, Wow!

Tuesday I had my final panels which consists of solving two problems using the problem solving method that we have been taught since the beginning of Depot.  I thought I did quite well during the hour that I was in there and the instructor that was conducting the panel did as well and gave me a P for my panel.  Two down, one more to go.

Wednesday we had our final Police Driving class, it was emergency vehicle operation.  I was a class designed to teach us when to pursue someone and when to call it off.  It was a very informative class and there were some funny instances in the cars when we were chasing each other around Depot with the lights on and the sirens blaring.

Thursday brought us our final firearms class where shot our pistols for the last time at Depot.  Then we had to say good bye to our pistols as they were boxed up and sent out to our detachments for us as the airlines usually frown upon people carrying guns on the plane.  It was also the day that you could see the nervousness on everyone's face....the day before the final exam.

Friday came about and I was not that worried, I had looked over the material and felt confident about the test.  After the test we had to go to drill class and work on our final drill presentation.  Cpl Pullen was not impressed with us as most of the class was still thinking of the final and not of drill class.  So after drill we headed down to the APS building were our facilitator was waiting for us with our marks.  I think someone must of known we were coming to find out our marks because just before we marched in front of the building the fire alarm went off.  This meant we couldn't go inside to find out our marks, but thankfully our facilitator found us outside and had us gather around him.  He asked us "Do any of you have family coming in this weekend?  If you do you might be busy because.......you all passed!"  A huge cheer came up from the whole troop as we all released the tension that had been built up for 21 weeks.  All the troops gathered outside must of thought we were crazy or something because you don't see people yelling and hugging on the street that much at Depot.

So now we are done the testing phase here at Depot, we are now know as cadetstables.  And starting Monday we are the senior troop at Depot, we get to wear our stetson (big mountie hat) and walk on the sidewalks.  This upcoming week will be extremely busy with grad and preparing to leave Depot. We have our final inspection this week, our regimental diner and our drill presentation for our peers. A lot to do.  So I better stop writing here and get to work.

The next time I update this page I will probably be a constable, exciting isn't it.
