| Week 13 | ||||||
| Another week down and only 8 more to go before we graduate. Go 35!! This week was a pretty easy week compared to the previous couple of weeks we have had here at Depot. It started off with a test however. We had our PDT test #2 on Monday. This is where we have to apply the skills that we have learned about handcuffing, searching, using OC spray, our batons and takedowns and apply them to a situation that they throw us into. I cannot go into what the senario that I had involved but it test me on all the skills we have learned. It was not an easy test but I managed to get a 'P' on it so that is good. There were some 'U's handed out at this test so there will be some retests done next week, I am sure the people who got them will do fine and move on, no worries. We also went over our midterm this week to see what mistakes we made and the rational behind the answers. Again I can't get into much about the test but I pretty much knew the questions that I had wrong, when I was writing the test I knew it was one of the two choices so now I know why I got them wrong. We also had our Be On the Lookout For drive today, known as the BOLF drive. This is where we have five cars in a neighbourhood of Regina and we have to follow a suspect vehicle (usually a unmarked police car with PDU instructor driving) around and use the radio to coordinate ourselves. One car follows and gives directions on where they are headed and the other cars have to follow the directions and try to end up where the suspect is. I had a good time with the drive, it was not as stressful as a regular patrol drive test. On Friday we had an all day long spare. The instructors had a Professional Development day. So there was around 400 cadets with no classes, so it was quite busy around base with people getting caught up with cleaning, polishing, finishing files and such. This week was also a sad week for Troop 35 as we lost another troop member. I won't say who it was but I am sure that they will be back at Depot soon and will be a great mountie, good luck. So we are again a troop of 27. |
